Some great fights coming up in a couple of days. All I am hoping for from the Main Event is that it lasts longer than their first fight.

Main Card Bouts (on Pay-Per-View):
-Junior dos Santos (15-1; #1 Heavyweight) vs. Cain Velasquez (10-1; #2 Heavyweight)
-Jim Miller (21-4; #6 Lightweight) vs. Joe Lauzon (22-7)
-Tim Boetsch (16-4; #5 Middleweight) vs. Costa Philippou (11-2)
-Yushin Okami (27-7; #8 Middleweight) vs. Alan Belcher (18-6)
-Chris Leben (22-8) vs. Derek Brunson (9-2)

Preliminary Bouts (on FX):
-Brad Pickett (22-6; #4 Bantamweight) vs. Eddie Wineland (19-8-1; #5 Bantamweight)
-Erik Perez (12-4) vs. Byron Bloodworth (6-2)
-Melvin Guillard (30-11-2) vs. Jamie Varner (20-7-1)
-Michael Johnson (12-6) vs. Myles Jury (10-0)

Preliminary Bouts (on Facebook):
-Phil DeFries (9-1) vs. Todd Duffee (7-2)
-Leonard Garcia (15-9-1) vs. Max Holloway (6-1)
-Chris Cariaso (14-3; #7 Flyweight) vs. John Moraga (12-1)

I'll be honest with you...I haven't paid much attention to this event at all, and so, while looking down at the undercard, I'm really surprised at the match placement, namely, the Cariaso/Moraga fight being the opener on Facebook. Stacked card aside, that should really be on the FX show instead of Perez/Bloodworth, especially since Bloodworth is coming off a loss and has been away for so long battling injuries. Duffee on Facebook is a bit of a surprise too, though I guess it had to drop down after Varner/Guillard was moved over.

Oh Leonard Garcia...

The most surprising fight placement of the event for me is having Leben/Brunson on the PPV. That makes no sense. I would've put Varner/Guillard on the PPV, but that's just me. I think they want to get Erik Perez as much attention as possible as he is a Mexican fighter who has looked very good in his brief time in the UFC.

Dave...this one sits fine with me. Leben's comeback/sobriety is a huge story, and I think he has a lot more drawing power than the majority of the guys on the undercard. If Leben quickly KOs Brunson (the likeliest possibility for a Leben win,) it's a big story considering the hype the UFC has put into it, and all of Dana White's promises that Leben has changed his act and such

In the end his drawing power is negligible, it just seems more rational, I know that's often not actually used when setting up these cards, to have two top-20 lightweights put on a fight where there is now genuine bad blood (UFC blew a publicity opportunity there), and will most certainly be entertaining, for a mediocre middleweight facing a guy who probably won't last very long in the UFC.

What's the hype that the UFC has put behind Leben? I've only found one story on junkie about him.

His name has been all over social media (well, Twitter) and interviews. Leben's agents have been handing interviews and statements out like candy, and Dana White's been quick to slide his name into every interview, nook and cranny he can. It kind of reminds me of the time that WWF did that worked shoot interview with Mick Foley, and after a while, he was all you saw on TV for months and months.

I realize it hasn't been attention to where he's the focal point of the PPV, but if you look at the amount of MMA media coverage some sites (not just the major 3 or 4) have given him, it's levels of exposure that's usually reserved for co-mains or mains.

But the best news of the day, Mike Goldberg is taking some time off and Jon Anik will be calling the action tomorrow. Hopefully nothing is wrong with Goldberg, but this is a significant upgrade in the booth.

Really forward to seeing Leben and even more stoked to see my boy Leonard Garcia fight on FB. I know you all do ot like him but I'm a big fan....can't wait till tomorrow.

It's not that I don't like Garcia, it's just that I dread watching him fight because I have a nagging feeling that he's going to get a gift decision. It's happened so many times. Holloway is a cleaner, more technical striker, but if it goes to a decision my money will be on Leonard no matter how the fight went.

I just heard that the UFC is going to allow Erik Perez to wear a Lucha Libre mask to the cage; it's something they nearly never allow. They are also going to be handing out masks at the show too to fans. The push is on this kid big time.

How on earth can you take that from Garcia. Total bull****.

I thought he won that fight, maybe it's karma coming back to bite him for those decisions he got but didn't deserve.

That Miller/Lauzon fight slid right into the number two slot in my fight of the year list. Just awesome.

Erik Perez did exactly what the UFC was hoping he would. Chris Leben did not though.

I had dos Santos in the Main Event but I was hoping Cain would win. I didn't want to see Cain exiled as the second best heavyweight in the world. Who doesn't want to see fight three? fight four? fight five?

Interesting...I'd never heard this and I think it's a neat idea. You're right though Dave...it's a stark difference over the fact that they wouldn't let Rony Jason wear his mask to the TUF Finale.

I thought it a bit odd that they were pushing Perez's star as much as they were going into Saturday, but it makes sense now.

Interesting to see what they do with Perez now. Given what we've seen of him, I can see them matching him up with somebody like Mike Easton or Johnny Bedford.
