This is a pretty loaded card coming up on Saturday. I will be fresh off of my fantasy baseball league draft, thus in my #GSPsDarkPlace. The undercard is quite nice too. Really looking forward to seeing what type of fight Makdessi and Cruickshank put on. Also excited about the UFC debut of Jordan Mein.

Main Bouts (on Pay-Per-View):
Georges St-Pierre (23-2; #1 Welterweight) vs. Nick Diaz (26-8; #4 Welterweight)
Carlos Condit (28-6; #2 Welterweight) vs. Johny Hendricks (14-1; #3 Welterweight)
Jake Ellenberger (28-6; #8 Welterweight) vs. Nate Marquardt (32-11)
Nick Ring (13-1) vs. Chris Camozzi (18-5)
Mike Ricci (7-3) vs. Colin Fletcher (8-2)

Preliminary Bouts (on FX and Sportsnet):
Patrick Cote (18-8) vs. Bobby Voelker (24-8)
Antonio Carvalho (15-5) vs. Darren Elkins (15-2)
Dan Miller (14-6) vs. Jordan Mein (26-8)
John Makdessi (10-2) vs. Daron Cruickshank (12-2)

Preliminary Bouts (on Facebook):
Rick Story (14-6) vs. Quinn Mulhern (18-2)
T.J. Dillashaw (7-1) vs. Issei Tamura (7-3)
George Roop (12-9-1) vs. Reuben Duran (8-4-1)

I will actually be AT this UFC in Montreal! It will be my first trip to see a UFC live, so I'm pretty excited. I'm also quite intrigued for that Makdessi vs. Cruickshank fight, and I can't wait to see Ricci fight as well, it should be a really interesting fight between the most recent TUF runner-ups.

I am jealous. I can only imagine how insanely loud it will be as the crowd boos Diaz, and then cheers GSP. I love going on youtube the next day to find those fan shot videos of the walkouts.

Yeah, I can't wait to be part of the "atmosphere" in the Bell Centre when they walk-out, especially with the added animosity between Diaz and GSP (which GSP hasn't really had in quite some time to leading up to a fight). I don't have the greatest seats, but I'm mainly going for the atmosphere and the fact the card is pretty deep helps too, lol. Should be a great time!

This will be a good event. Plenty of emotion and plenty at stake, especially when you consider the promise that 100 more fighters will be cut. I would probably wager these are the fighters on the hot seat for sure this weekend:

-George Roop
-Reuben Duran
-Rick Story
-Issei Tamura

50/50 on the hotseat...would probably stick around anyway with an impressive enough effort if they lost.

-John Makdessi
-Patrick Cote
-Dan Miller
-Nate Marquardt. I know he's stepping in on late notice but if he's on the Strikeforce contract, he's 35/35 and didn't look like himself against Tarec Saffedeine. Considering the UFC have future endeavored some short notice guys lately which they never did before...makes you think... :)

I think Story/Mulhern could be an interesting fight. Mulhern's a Jackson affiliated guy (I don't think he trains there full-time) that's flown under the "Strikeforce guys come to the UFC" radar a bit this card with Bobby "Kevin Bieksa" Voelker coming back from injury and being the bigger name. He went into his last fight a big underdog and pulled out a split decision upset when he wasn't "supposed" to win. He's a really bad matchup for Story too.

Everybody made weight. The fights are a go, hell yeah.

Georges St. Pierre (170) vs. Nick Diaz (169)
Johny Hendricks (171) vs. Carlos Condit (169)
Jake Ellenberger (170) vs. Nate Marquardt (171)
Chris Camozzi (185) vs. Nick Ring (183)
Mike Ricci (156) vs. Colin Fletcher (155)
Patrick Cote (169) vs. Bobby Voelker (169)
Darren Elkins (145) vs. Antonio Carvalho (145)
Dan Miller (171) vs. Jordan Mein (170)
Daron Cruickshank (155) vs. John Makdessi (155)
Rick Story (169) vs. Quinn Mulhern (168)
T.J. Dillashaw (135) vs. Issei Tamura (135)
George Roop (135) vs. Reuben Duran (135)

Diaz was terrible .....all that talk and you lay an egg basically wow

Um,he is fighting basically the best pound for pound guy in MMA. A guy like that can make you look bad or average at your best. Nick Diaz went 5 rounds with GSP and I am sorry but that is much better then laying an egg.

Laying an egg is being Frank Trigg and saying only white belts get sub'd by a Rear Naked Choke and then being sub'd by a rear naked choke twice by Matt Hughes after saying it.

Ellenberger gets KO of the night, Hendricks/Condit got fight of the night and no submission of the night awarded. $50000 for each of them.

The much hyped title fight was a total snooze fest for me. A bunch of take downs and then not much in the way of damage while in control. I know the guy is an icon up north, but were you really entertained by that?

Thank goodness there were some good fighters, Mein, Ellenberger, Hendricks and Condit who put on a show and saved this event. I agree with one writers take "UFC 158 in Montreal featured a huge knockout, a disappointing if unsurprising title bout, and a few snoozers".

Hendricks/Condit was easily the fight of the night. These two men absolutely battled their way to the end, in what looked like it should have been the main event.

As for the GSP/Diaz....eh....to say it best. To me GSP said it all at the end which made sense in that he did not want to get into a boxing match with Diaz and that since he did not have anyone he could spar with (who fights like Diaz), that he had to fight and adjust on the fly. I dont want to say it was a boring match but they were on the ground for more then 14minutes in the fight. GSP also looked very winded in the match and caught him a few times looking up at the clock to check the time. I dont know if its because its only his second fight back but if it were someone who was hungrier then Diaz it could have easily went the other way. To me I dont think they expected a full distance fight (GSP/Diaz) which explained why it was sluggish....they tired out.

All in all, was I disappointed with the fights....no but it could have been better and Dana White is on it (see where he made some cuts to fighters). He knows what the people want and is honest to the fans of UFC (follow him on twitter, FYI NOT FOR KIDS! He doesnt hold back any punches and says how it is!). I look forward to the next fight and seeing Jon Jones in action!

i can see how the main event was boring, especially since the hendricks x condit fight was such a rollercoaster ride but imo, it takes skill to grapple and with two high level practitioners of jijitsu fighting against each other, i wouldn't call the gsp x diaz fight boring.

it's just technical. there were a lot of attacks/defenses and transitions. i can see each of them trying to submit each other but it's a whole lot different when someone is trying to punch or elbow you. and yes, georges didn't want to stand up and bang with diaz because that's where diaz is better.

Agreed in full, I was pretty entertained with the chess match on the mat in the main event. A lot of very interesting scrambles. Not all fights can be slugfests and it doesn't mean that it's necessarily boring, it's just different. I personally love the technical, cerebral aspect of a fight like GSP/Diaz.

I appreciate the skill but its always the same thing with gsp i was literally calling within seconds before he went for the takedown he is tooooo damn predictable. As much as i dislike silva and when he clowns at least he finishes, bones finishes, gsp just literally changes positions never goes to finish and makes me want to fall asleep. I have watched enough grappling events that i want to see a little more out of him. I hope hendricks brings it and makes it a great fight.

Scott, I've got to agree with Nick here to a degree. I think Diaz laid an egg too because he spent so much time talking leading up to the fight and delivered nothing on the night of the fight. There weren't even cases where you could argue against whether he won any of the rounds.

Chael Sonnen, in comparison, trash talked and smack talked every day leading up to his fights against Anderson Silva and delivered in both. He dominated 95% of the time across both fights and lost due to mental errors. That's better than coming in and showboating during a fight you're being completely dominated in.

I dunno...I think the biggest troubles have just started. If Nick's never paid taxes and he's been bringing incoming in for the last 10-11 years, I think he's got bigger things to worry about than whether he gets to fight Anderson Silva after Sonnen

I just expected more from Diaz .....not to discredit GSP but for as much as Diaz talked himself up I was expecting more of a fight from him like Matt said Chael ran his mouth with Anderson and backed it up in the first fight for 98% of the fight until he got caught in a mental mistake ..
