UFC 158: St. Pierre vs. Diaz - March 16th

Scott, I've got to agree with Nick here to a degree. I think Diaz laid an egg too because he spent so much time talking leading up to the fight and delivered nothing on the night of the fight. There weren't even cases where you could argue against whether he won any of the rounds.

Chael Sonnen, in comparison, trash talked and smack talked every day leading up to his fights against Anderson Silva and delivered in both. He dominated 95% of the time across both fights and lost due to mental errors. That's better than coming in and showboating during a fight you're being completely dominated in.

I dunno...I think the biggest troubles have just started. If Nick's never paid taxes and he's been bringing incoming in for the last 10-11 years, I think he's got bigger things to worry about than whether he gets to fight Anderson Silva after Sonnen

Well then you would also have to say that GSP laid an egg as he did not even come close to giving Diaz the beat down of his life. Neither one followed through on what they both said would happen.

I agree that neither Diaz or GSP even remotely fulfilled their lofty predictions, but I honestly think GSP said that to make Diaz think he was going to make a stupid mistake by letting anger get in his way. GSP is way to smart to do that. Diaz did look bad but he was against the best in th edivision and was completely neutralized, GSP didn't do anything flashy, and again, Diaz is damn good fighter neutralizing alot of GSP's offense, and let's face it flash or big bombs is not GSP's style. Everybody knew that going into the fight. Bottom line is he won and it was a lopsided descision. He won executing his plan, commanding the ring, and being the better figter.

Bravesfan4life....as for GSP being "tooooo damn predictable" I suspect that might just be a bit of a perception issue or p.o.v. difference from sitting on the couch with a brew and a bag of spuddies vs. being face to face with him. If that were the case I think somebody would have solved him by now. I am sure it looks alot differnt from inside the cage....if it doesn't: what does it say. The opposition see's it comiing and still can do nothing to stop it.

I could not agree more.
