A story 10-years in the making,...
I first saw this card locally with one of my first card friends. I remember him sharing it with me when I was purchasing another 05-06 Cup card when first year of The Cup was released. I almost fell off my seat when holding this card he shared with me. He told me how much he paid and then I doubt I would ever come close to owning it.
Fast forward 10 years. This card was held over my head. I expressed interest in it for a long shot trade. Of course, it was then listed on eBay for some astronomical asking price to spite me. I got over it quickly again. It one day disappeared from eBay and I was thankful that I didn't have to look at it or think about it anymore. Out of sight, out of mind.
A quick aside: I recently bought the first cup car I ever owned back,... it popped up on eBay after 8yrs of searching. Felt so satisfied having the 05-06 The Cup Crosby/Ovechkin Dual Noble Numbers #2/10 back in my hands! Along found its friend in the 05-06 The Cup Crosby/Lemieux Dual Noble Numbers #4/10 too:
Always loved these cards for their thickness and dual GU rookie year memorabilia.
Back to main story, the person whom I bought these cards from had a card I was interested in. I am trying to focus the PC into The Cup pieces with very few exceptions. As per the (stupid) title to this post - here is the Ultimate card I made an exception for in my PC:
- 06-07 UD Ultimate Sidney Crosby Signature Logo Patch #1/1
I can't be as awesome as Matt D. with the 05-06 Ultimate Crosby Rookie shield, so I guess a 2nd year GU shield will have have to do.
To the finale,...
I am stilled stunned I have this ginormous card in my possession now. After 11 years in the making and the ups and downs being taunted this card,... without further ado:
- 05-06 The Cup Wayne Gretzky (All Star) and Mario Lemieux Dual GU Shields #1/1
