For anyone in the area, I have seen an ad for a show that is scheduled for September 25, 2010. The show is supposed to be held right next to the new Consol Energy Center in an exhibit hall of the old Epiphany Catholic Church. Apparently they are having vendors in to sell cards, memorabilia and game used as well. Table renters can also just set up a display and not sell if they wish, so I'm kind of interested to see if any unique collections or memorabilia show up.
Supposed to be game used sticks, equipment and jerseys available, but I know for a fact of one jersey that won't be for sale......cause I joined the dark side of game used collecting......I am getting Marc Andre Fleury's 2009-10 Playoff home (black) jersey. This is the last jersey that he wore at the Mellon Arena in the playoff loss to the Habs. I will post pics once it makes its way completely into my possession. I kick myself for not buying his 08-09 Playoff away jersey last year when I had the chance, when I decided to pull the trigger it was already gone. Even though the jersey I got isn't from a Cup winning year, the history of the arena is really intertwined with my family and its closing is a sad thing to me. This way, I have a memento from that building. It would be cool to get his home jersey from Set 1 in 10-11, so I would have his last Mellon Arena jersey and his first jersey from the new arena.....but I will have to see about that one.
Well, if anyone is interested, I think this event will mostly be Penguins, but there may be other game worn vendors too. That evening there will be a preseason game in the new arena against Columbus. Free admission to the Hockey Expo.....they have a web page, but info is pretty sparse on the page.
