Just looked through my score breaks again and found 1 french back.

Notice the writing just over the players name on the back of the card
"N'oubliez pas de collectionner les cartes Score hockey!"
I'm not sure if/where the writing would be on either the rookies or season highlights...

Hope this helps and good hunting everyone!

That's the first I've seen. Hopefully somebody here can provide a scan of the regular version. Can you scan the front of the Demers as well so we can just be totally certain there's no change to the front of the card?

Thanks for the post!

It can be confirmed then, that at least for the base cards, the only difference for a French Back card is that it has the additional line of writing in French. There isn't any "translated" text like a 90-91 Score card might have.

Actually, this makes it a little bit easier to find -- go looking for where there's text where there's usually white space.

Thanks for posting i have had a bunch of people in my store buying these and they were wondering how to spot the french backs. That scan is very helpful.

Dang... I was expecting a full translation and looked for that while sorting through my cards (I only looked at the first few lines of the top of the writing and the card number as I was sorting...).

Ah well, now that I know what to look for, it won't be so hard. Thanks Scott!

Thanks very much for the post. Now I know what to look for! A bit lazy of Panini to not translate the whole back of the cards like the old French Score.

The problem with that was the french always was longer than the english. They probably would have run into some issues with typesetting.

Plus, this way (assuming they're all the same) they only had to pay for one phrase to get translated... heck, Al with his rusty Grade 9 french probably did it for free! :)

Yeah, this is a different thing entirely than what I was expecting. "French Back" doesn't really describe it well. How about "single line of text in French that gets plastered randomly on the back of a card and we're calling it a parallel" instead?

Too long?

Andy - call it a 'purposeful printing error' and call it a day... :)

Really though, it's not much different than a colored border shift parallel, or stamping it on the front...

It wouldn't be so bad if the phrase wasn't so corny...lol
You'd think they could have come up with something better than "Don't forget to collect Score hockey cards!"

As long as Score never sinks to the low that was 91-92, I'll be modestly happy. Seriously, does anyone enjoy trying to figure out all those different versions? :D

I have to thank Scott for figuring this out - I went back through my box break and found one of my own - Mike Commodore.

Not the greatest, but neat to have one pop up unexpectedly!
