Did anyone really think Canada could be beat in this tournament? This might be the most impressive and deepest team Canada has ever fielded at the WJC. I thought every team showed up just looking for the silver or bronze, but, you never know what might happen in a one and done tourney like this. I’m shocked the US kids found a way to pull this off.

Not sure about that one. I’d pick Canada 2005 all day, every day.
Great win for the US boys nonetheless!

This was a good Canadian team but they did not have a top-end elite scorer. If Lafreniere had been made available that would be a different story. It was a good game but Canada was outplayed for the first two periods and the score reflected that. Good effort by both teams.

In a one and done tournament, anything can happen. Canada had a good team, but in no way was I shocked. Disappointed, yes, but not shocked.

Kudos to the Americans for the win, and congrats to the Canadian boys on the silver - it was great to see some high end hockey again!

I'd have to agree with Cory.

Watching the game and it appeared that in the first period it was a game of boys against men. :hockey:

Congrats to team USA on a very well played game.

I think if Byram doesn't put that SH break off the post, Canada might have come back. They were buzzing at the end of the 2nd, just couldn't get something to go. USA seemed to dominate the 1st half of the game though.

On paper, Canada looked better. However, it is only one game, and the U.S. was up for the game and as you know, anything can happen (always a struggle with the U.S. against Finland). No Laf for Canada and no Hughes for the U.S.

No slight meant towards previous Canada teams, I’ve just never seen a team from any Country where all the skaters were 1st round NHL draft picks. That’s insanely impressive and a wealth of talent/depth on all four lines.
