Varlomov arrested for kidnapping and assault

I'm gonna pass any judgement until after all the details are out.... Hopefully everything works out one way or another

food for thought…Heatley killed someone in 2003 and got off with no time served…perhaps Varlamov can get off with a warning too..without knowing all the details difficult to comment.

Heatley's case is a bit different, although he did kill his best friend Snyder in a car accident. There was a lot of remorse on Heatley's part, and Snyder's family didn't press charges.

Since Varly was arrested, then charges are being pressed by the victim.

I saw this on the sportsnet ticker last night and my jaw dropped. Everyone's wife drives them crazy from time to time so I can understand smacking them around a bit, but kidnapping them? Dude, if she's driving you batty, go for a walk or something don't hold her hostage. Now he'll never hear the end of it. Thanksgiving dinner is going to be awkward.

* I'm totally joking about hitting wives and don't condone such actions *

On a serious note, it will be interesting to see how this affects the team and the success they've found. Does anyone else think it can keep up with Jiggy between the pipes? Does this open the door for a kid to come in and potentially steal a roster spot? Does Varlamov's bail money count against the cap?!?

Due to his assualt charge being a felony. He'll have to wait to see a judge prior to a determination being made as to his disposition, ie remanded into custody, released on bail or released on his own recognizant.

However, it's still a overnight in the lock up.

Anyways, hope all turns out for the best.

Kidnap is a strong word, any type of restraint or keeping a closed lock door on someone falls into this category. AS for the other charge even restraining or holding someone by their wrist etc. can fall under the umbrella.
__used to work within a court system and had to study a bit of the charges--definitely not a lawyer by any means.
I hope for the best for the guy; unfortunately guilty until proven ?? in the eyes of many as he maybe "labeled" now.

I'm not going to comment on guilty/innocent, but I'm going to say that somepeople should just shut up.

From http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=435504

"I'm confident of Semyon's innocence," Russian parliamentarian Igor Ananskikh told a Russian news agency R-Sport. "I think it is a sports and political move, as Varlamov is a candidate for the Russian national team. The main goal is to suspend him from training and games so that he loses practice and misses the Olympics."

Exactly. when people hear "kidnapping" they picture a hollywood flick where a hood is thrown over someones head and they are thrown into a white van kinda thing.

"Kidnapping" could be something as little as them driving down the road, arguing, and she says to let her out of the car as they are driving down the highway.

i will reserve my comments until more is released, i just hope everything is a big misunderstanding.

To be fair it's illegal to pull over on the highway...
