Very interesting Upper Deck Redemption call (Advice needed)

Funny I get this call days after a post I made.

I noticed live versions of the 16-17 The Cup Luongo Jagr dual scripted swatches and dual signature patches.

Funny thing was that I purchased the redemptions for both cards. Wasn't sure why both existed, but I acquired the redemptions before I saw the live cards.

5 mins ago I get a call from Upper Deck. The redemptions were packaged in error and all copies of the cards were "live". They offered me replacements but I really just wanted the cards. Replacements were duals from the cup of sakic/Forsberg from different years, yzerman/lidstrom, yzerman/hasek, roy/sakic.

Problem is, for whatever reason, the Luongo/Jagr cards cost me a lot. And the live versions have outlandish BIN or offers, to the point that even what I paid for them originally is lower than the BIN. So I doubt I could get the live versions at the same cost.

What do I do?

I told the rep that I really only collect Luongo and if they can't give me any high end Luongo I don't have I will be looking for cards that I could sell to recoup my original purchase and hopefully buy the live copies online.


What would you guys do? What would you ask for? Seeing is this is their "error" should I expect more? Its a weird situation and looking for some advice.

I really just wanted the cup cards to complete the rainbow!!!!

Show proof of what you paid for them to understand what your outlay was and start with that.
 
Both cards weren't even on the checklist, and I'm sure I bought the first copies of both as it seemed odd that both cards didnt surface till 6-9 months after the release. I just feel like it's only fair to get back what I put in as it was an error. Am I wrong?
 
tell them your top 5 are crosby, gretzky, mcdavid, matthews, and orr - get something of value, sell it and cover your losses - if the redemption isn't going to work because the card is already live in packs, then there is really no point holding out - not like you can force UD to buy you one in the secondary market and mail it to you.
 
Update:

3 weeks went by and no response so I called again. Was offered a list of cards to pick and these 2 were ok. Opinions on what you think these are worth/sell for. Again, service has been great and I've been very upfront with the reps on my intentions.

Gotta say, that is a great job by upper deck to give out those 2 cards. It was there screw up forsure, but those 2 cards your getting as replacements are beauties. Especially the UD black dual ticket auto /5
 
I didn't take the replacement. I stated to them that I just wanted a card to move to recoup the loss and buy the live cards. Here is what I got which I think is a better deal

Here's the weird thing about the Matthews...

I have the brown, Kapanen, Marner and Nylander Super Rookies /99 and was thinking about buying the Matthews but it was steep.

So I wanted a card to sell to buy the Luongo's and now I don't know what to do!!!

Thinking about getting the 5 super rookies framed as I think it would look great together.

Thoughts??
