According to Sportsnet insider Nick Kypreos the Oilers have acquired veteran forward Mike Cammalleri, now formerly of the Los Angeles Kings, and going back to L.A. will be veteran forward Jussi Jokinen.

The Edmonton Oilers have acquired forward Mike Cammalleri from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for forward Jussi Jokinen, the team announced on Tuesday.
Cammalleri has three goals and seven points in 15 games this season for the Kings, while Jokinen has just a single assist in 14 games for the Oilers.

The 35-year-old Richmond Hill native signed a one-year deal with the Kings in the off-season, the club that drafted him in the second round (49th overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Cammalleri has played 15 years in the NHL with a career 620 points in 855 games.

His best season came in 2008-09 with the Calgary Flames where he scored a career high 39 goals and 43 assists.

Jokinen signed a one-year, $ 1.1 million contract with the Oilers in July after spending the last three seasons with the Florida Panthers.

The 34-year-old has spent time with Dallas, Tampa Bay, Carolina and Pittsburgh in his career, with 547 points in 905 NHL games.

Jokinen was also drafted in the 2001 NHL Entry draft, going in the sixth round (192nd overall).

Thank god... that Jokinen experiment was a fail from day 1
I still can’t believe any team would actually trade for him.

Anyways, Despite Cammi’s injury record...an improvement at no cap hit increase.

No matter where he lands, Jokinen is always a failed experiment. It's unfortunate, because we see the flashes of brilliance. You think he'd be good for 20 goals a year and then he manages to find himself benched.

And now he's a King... He'll fit in better in L.A. as they've adjusted the offensive tempo, but I see this as a favor to Edmonton more than I see it as a fair deal.

I like the deal too.

I think more than a favour to Edmonton, it's a favour to Cammalleri.

My understanding was that he was not going to be an "every game" player for the Kings - they've got some younger guys they want to take some of that ice time. He's a better fit for regular minutes in Edmonton than Jokinen was, so they did him a solid and moved him out.

At the same time, Jokinen is still a decent fit to be a player that's in & out of the lineup for the Kings - so they're not really losing anything here.

I wondered this myself - is it helping out a dude who has been good to L.A. in the past? Kempe is coming along better than projected, and they are getting good depth scoring.

I get to see Jokinen tonight for the first time in a Kings sweater, and I'm hoping he's still got his speed. Haven't checked to see which line he'll be playing on.
