Watch for a postal stolen ITG Ultimate card

I remember I had the same card with a different numbering and someone ( from HI ) bought it off from me and he was supposed to send it to you.
 
Theft of mail is a very serious crime regardless of which side of the border you live on. I would get the police involved and with the help of the HI seller the two of you could at least have the satisfaction of putting a crook behind bars.
 
Just a quick reality check: You are not suggesting that the current seller is automatically the original thief, are you?

Just what I had in mind. The case looks so badly damaged that the original envelope might have been ripped during the sorting process. --> the card fell off and got hit --> someone finds it ---> don't know what it is and where it's from --> gives it to someone ---> who lists it on ebay.

Based on the condition I actually think this might be a true accident?

Not at all, but there is a good chance he will remember exactly how he picked up that short print. It has worked before and with the serial number a thief got nailed for exactly this type of theft about five or six years ago.

No...I am just asking him questions about the card. Who knows, it could have changed hands 10 times since January 2011. You never know. Odds are that after this long, it has changed hands a few times. Not accusing the Seller at all right now. Just surprised the card popped up on the radar. :dizzy:

I'll let everyone know what comes out of my talks with the Seller.

That is a lot of different things...very random...1069 items in his store and nothing the same or even related. Very odd assortment of stuff. Like he's a "picker" on TV...hope it isn't a picker of people's mail. :foottap:

I would like to hear the ending of this. My thought is maybe this guy bids on unclaimed mail and gets a bunch of stuff not related that broke open in transit and receiver could not be located. If not, he may work for the post office and needs to be stopped.

Sorry to hear that. This was purchased at USPS abandoned/lost mail auction probably about a year ago.

Makes sense. And also makes sense why the case is so damaged....bubble envelope got damaged, card fell out and got run over/stepped on, and the Post Office listed as Abandoned/Unclaimed.

Now how does this work?

USPS loses the contents of your package while in their possession. They find it and sell it. But doesn't it belong to you still?

Do they have a "lost and found" area? Since this was a pretty specific item, it would be nice if their customer had a way of making an inquiry for the item before they sold it off.

If they cannot match with the original envelope, I guess they keep it.

I can see it now. "Oops, this envelope just happened to lose it contents. So we'll still deliver the empty envelope and keep the contents." Which is what happened.

Now it would be nice with a "lost and found" area...

Beacuse I myself has experienced many lost/stolen mails since sep-11...
One those was also a emptly envelope.. I really dont understand why in earth they still deliver a ripped and empty envelope to us!?

But I actually has sent some mails to the my locally postal office about this matter and they ineed said that they actually got tons of sportscards which got "lost" in theirs storage but they have a very strict policy to not sending those cards back to the sender or to the rightful owner (like me) even if we has proof....

Now that's pathetic!
Just a lame excuse becuase there are a huge problem with thefting amonge employees here (because one at a swedish forum has confessed this matter about with thefting among employees)

There are also a huge problem with my worklplace because we gets big titles movies in DVD/Blu-ray many months before its initial release into the market so many can't resist the temptation then....so why shouldn't employees at postal offices doing same thing then...

This really sucks for us who pays a huge lot of $$$ (not all of us is rich) for cards which latter gets lost/stolen and then suddenly pops at ebay or something alike....

I really feel your pain!
One of those cards which got lost/stolen of mine was nothing less than a 98/99 Gold Label 1/1 card...! I
 
This brings a bit of hope that maybe one day my missing Iginla printing plate from 10-11 The Cup will show up.....
 
I hope everyone else also noted that it was in the USPS not claimed/lost mail. Originally I thought the USPS had told the customer it arrived in the US empty like that.......blaming the Canada Post system. Sad really. Glad it turned up and I hope you can work something out with the USPS.......because I'd be arguing the fact it was in the US and the Post Service says it was lost on the Canada side. Pretty rude and irresponsible on their part.

The USPS said they probably received it empty at their site, but it could have happened at another USPS site during transfer. They delivered the empty envelope anyway. Said the envelope must've fell off a cart/truck and was found empty with no way of knowing where it was from. They auction LOST stuff all the time. So probably a worker mishandled it, or fell on ground and came out of envelope....who knows?? The slab was cracked up pretty bad.

Not much they could do when they find something by itself and no envelope.

And no recourse for me or sender a year and a half later. :foottap:
