Demanding to recieve a full refund (including s/h costs) after not recieving a $3 card after 30 days of paypal payment being made. I gave my standard offer for such cases stating that if the card does not arrive after 8 weeks from date of shipment I will issue a refund for the purchase price. This offer was rejected.
Gave me an ultimatium of 3 days to give him the refund or leave negative feedback. My current feeback rating is 969 at 100%. For whatever reason he is not willing to wait a few more weeks to get his money back but instead destroy my 100% feedback rating over a $3 card.
From his emails he does seem to be on the immature and impatient side.
I would not advise against dealing with him particularly for canadian sellers were delays are more likely to occur.

You think that's bad ... I had a guy file a paypal chargeback on me because he had not received the card after 8 days ... and the cost of the card with S&H was $3 ... I of course gave him the refund just so I didn't have to deal with him.

My suggestion ... it's only $3 ... give it to him and consider it part of the cost of doing business online. Not worth the hassle - and potential feedback hit - for such a small amount. Then simply add him to your blocked bidders list.

Just my thoughts...

I understand why you would suggest to just give him the refund but by doing such I would just be rewarding his impatience and immaturity which I will not do. If nobody was willing to stand up to people who use threats of negative feedback on low dollar items the problem would just grow.

I can't speak on the guys maturity level as I have not been privy to the communication between the two of you, but 30 days seems to be a reasonable amount of time. If I remember correctly, it's max 45 days for a PayPal chargeback, and if that's the case, your two month timeline doesn't jive, and that leaves the buyer with no protection, and no discourse for reimbursement. So on that level, I see where the buyer is coming from...

Did you get delivery confirmation? I never used to until I was in the same situation as you right now. Its worth it even for cheap cards.

BTW, its not the end of the world if you have 1 neg. Your rating will be about 99.9%. It doesn't get much better than that. People will realize that with as many transactions as you have, its very difficult to get a perfect rating especially with all the idiots out there like the one you are dealing with now.

I also thought the limit to raise a paypal claim was 45 days, and although I've never asked for a chargeback myself, I don't think 30 days was overly quick to raise the issue with paypal. Having said that though, isn't it 45 days to raise the claim, and then a further two weeks to resolve after the claim has been raised?

Those are all valid points. The 45 day window would still have given him 15 more days which he was unwilling to wait. With the feedback rating I have I would hope that at least a little trust would exist between buyer and seller.

As for delivery confirmation the only way to go to when shipping from canada to the US is registered mail and that would have cost 3-4 times the cost of the card so that doesn't really make sense.

I did not make this post looking for sympathy or to make a rant and I apologize if my intial post came off that way, just wanted to share my personal experiance with this ebay user to allow others to make a more informed decision before deciding to deal with him.

Well said. I hope everything works out for you. To further danzac's point, once the first neg is received, things get easier, since nobody is able to hold your perfect feedback hostage anymore. With your stellar feedback rating, even a couple of negs wouldn't make a lick of difference.

Good luck.
