What do you all think of this question: If a collector go's to his/her local walmart & buys some packs do you feel you get just as good odds as if you were to go to a hobby shop???

No I do not.Unless the Walmart have their cards under lock and key.The packs have all been searched.eg;Hot Prospects are so easy to tell the patches. Also in most cases Walmart deals with retail packs and the odds in those are generally much harder on most inserts. But of course retail packs usually offer an insert that hobby packs do not.I understand why people buy at Walmart.Generally cheaper by the pack or box.But if they are building sets they will run back to that hobby dealer to fill their sets. These hobby dealers who are trying to make ends meet and who charges a bit more for their product.Go back to Walmart and build your set. Most likely they do not sell singles at 10% of guide like we think our local hobby store should.
Our Walmarts here no longer carry cards.Way too much stealing going on for them to continue.Just my opinion,Winston.

Our local Walmart stores have the Flair,Ice & Hot Prospects in the holder so you can't search the packs their not in any box they actually hang on the shelf & the packs vary in price. As for Upper deck 1 & 2 they are in the boxes & they charge 2.97 a pack.

That certainly makes it better that they are packaged in individual rack packs.
I know that a local Walmart here made an error one time on pricing. They placed the pack price on the boxes.Someone noticed it and bought like 35 boxes for the same price as 35 packs.I do not know what the local retail stores sell packs for.I see them at most all the local stores. It would only be impulse that I would ever buy one from them.Try to support my local hobby dealers first than I do what I can here on HI than it is off to the Bay.Good luck to you where ever you buy your wax packs.TTYL,Winston.

For me the question is availability, there is really only one good size card shop still in the area so retail and the flea market have been the best local options. The local Target and a sporting goods store chain (short for Richard's) had some individual rack packs as well and would seem to make the odds more fair. I try to stay away from the loose retail packs as much as possible, but enjoy opening a blaster box now and then. My luck has not been good with pack or box pulls from anywhere recently, but I have not seen a huge difference in the odds for me. I am sure others may feel differently...

Yes Quincy but our Walmarts here in the states have the unopened boxes & packs I wouldn't waste my money on those blaster boxes plus I get 10 % discount ;)
