It's funny how life works and goes to show that nice guys don't finish last. All good things happen in threes!
First good thing
At the expo, a fella overpaid me by $20.
I sold him the card and checked the money and I thought I had $60 in hand.
About 5 mins later, I had a feeling that something was amiss, so I counted again. I had $80 as two $20 bills were stuck together.
I chased the guy down to give him his $20 back. I felt good, my karma counter is still +1. phew.
Second good thing
At work, I had $100 in my pocket as I owed money to a co-worker.
Somewhere along the day, I lost it. I didn't even realize it until an All staff email went out asking if anyone lost their cash. I quickly checked my pocket and realized my cash was gone. I went to my office manager and asked her who returned the money. She told me who and I went to see the right away.
I promptly handed them $20 for being honest. She asked why and I said
Me: "Listen, you did a good thing. You were honest. People like you should be rewarded"
Her: "Take your money back, it's no big deal, anyone would have done it"
Me: "Not everyone is a good as you, keep the money. Besides, it comes back 4 times over if you give openly"
Her:" Okay, fiiinnnneeeee....."
Third good thing:
On Friday, I get called into the suits office. Like the main dude who runs my company. I am thinking this is it, I am gonna be laid off (part of me was okay with this because I need a break). He sits me down and then tells me that I am getting a bonus. I am not going to get into the details of how much but it's the most I have ever gotten from a work bonus.
Moral of the story. No sense being a dick. Just be a good human being and the universe will reward you!
