Hi there

I was wondering it u guys & gals can lmk what UD Victory Black Base & Rookies are numbered to? I was just told by another member 08-09 UD Victory Black Rookies might possibly be numbered /20 - /30 I thought it was numbered to /5. If anyone knows please give me a shout.

Thanks JohnNaseri

05/06 were machine #'d /5. Not #'d since then but I heard speculation was between 5-15 print run. I doubt as high as 30. They'd come up more if they were that high.

05-06 = numbered to 5.
06-07, 07-08, and 08-09 from UD Victory = not numbered, probably 10-20 of each.
08-09 from UD Series 2 = likely as high as 30-50 copies of each. Not rare at all.

Well here's some rough math. Clearcut Rookies fall one per case in Series 2 and there are 42 in total #'d 100.

So according to that there were 4200 hobby cases produced.

There are 50 Victory Update RC's and they fall one per case on average. So 4200 divided by 50 = 84.

Seems a little high doesn't it but math doesn't lie. So if the averages stay true the print run is around 84 per card which judging by how many I've seen of Boedker and Frolik it doesn't seem to far off.

Side note, I just seen someone pull a Victory Black out of retail. They didn't have a scan but still, really makes you wonder.

Both the Neal and Sbisa I pulled were from retail packs.

It's actually 100 cards in the updateset, but you're right it's 50 rookies though I think they're pretty equally long printrun. Maybe the odds given by UD is a bit incorrect so I think close to 45 per update black is pretty accurate.

I'm pretty sure its 1 Vet and one rookie per case. I opened 2 cases and in each case we got 2 blacks. One rookie and one vet. I just went by that.

I checked UD's content breakdown and you're damn right, it's 2 per case. Hmm wonder if there's some blacks in the retail too, lol then many must have payed pertty good money for what they thought was /5 but in reality /100+

This seems to be an issue with 08/09 UD Series 2 only. At least for the time being.

Someone already gave a good guess which seems right up above at 84 copies each. I don't know if retail has any blacks, but if they do, one would imagine the print runs to be higher than 84.

Here's something I posted elsewhere with other numbers that might be of interest:

I did a bit of math on this earlier and it surprised me...

There are the 'case hits' or 1 per case:
http://sports.upperdeck.com/collectorszone/productpreview.aspx?aid=5199
In the odds posted it says 1 black victory base AND 1 black victory RC

Numbered case hits in this series are:
Case Break:
Ø 1 Rookie Playmakers oversized swatch card
Ø 1 Clear Cut Rookies acetate card
Ø 6 Parallel cards

Using the numbered cards, we calculate:
Rookie Playmakers - 42 * 100 = 4,200
Clear Cut Rookies - 42 * 100 = 4,200
Parallel Cards (/10 & /100) - 250 * 100 / 6 ~ 4167

So there are about 4,200 cases. At a black RC per case... in a 50 card set of rookies...
that's a print run of ~84 which is WAY more than 5.

Not that its any comforting, but we also know that the:
  • gold print runs are ~1008 (12 times more common than black)
  • autograph print runs are on average ~57 (same seeding as black, but with 73 copies)
And until the release of the retail and fat pack versions, the regular card print runs are:
  • Rookie Card Print Run is at least ~6048
  • Rookie Materials are at least ~1680
  • Game Jerseys are at least ~730

Hope this helps your consideration to pursue the victory black cards!
