I like signed index cards as they perfectly fill the void in my PC binders and try to sign players of my favorite team Ak Bars Kazan from time to time by myself, especially if they do not have cards produced in Ak Bars uniform. Here is one of my best, Svechnikov brothers were kind enough to sign it for me two years ago. They both played few years in Kazan junior teams before moving to America.

Would be nice to look at other index cards and to read some related stories.

My favourite in my set would be Deforest Kelly of Star Trek, the original series (Dr. McCoy, Bones). Big fan of Trek so have a lot of pieces from those shows. 👍😊

Cool topic.

As an autograph collector, I've certainly come across a fair share of signed index cards, but they are really disappearing from the modern autographing game.

One interesting story comes from earlier this year when Team Canada women were in town to play against USA in their Rivalry Series. The ladies had no problem signing licensed or custom cards, so long as their picture was on it...but another collector trying to get some index cards signed were met with a lot of hesitance. Some players politely explained they had been instructed (by their teams) to specifically avoid signing index cards.

Not news to anyone really, as there's the running idea that lifting the signature or identity theft could come of signing blank indexes. But it was interesting because that was the first time I saw the reluctance in person.

Anyhow, I mostly cut up old signed index cards to turn them into hockey cards.

Here's one I haven't figure out what to do with yet:

I don't have a picture of it right now but my mom was at an event several years ago and got to meet Gordie, Murray and Mark Howe. She's had it proudly displayed for years.

I wish I had decent scans, but I used to take index cards and create customs and auction them. I went after tough sigs, the toughest one being Sebastian Shaw who played Darth Vader during the unmasking scene in Return of the Jedi.

I've only ever bought one signed index card. It was a Matt Johnson one and it was turned into a custom card. Will have to scan it later and show it off.
