I have a friend who has one of the nicest vintage hockey sets I have ever seen (from this era)!

He has a beautiful (grade-worthy) complete set, including these six pieces.

Bobby Orr KSA 8.5
Sawchuk KSA 9
Belliveau KSA 9
Bobby Hull KSA 8.5
Gordie Howe KSA 8.5
Bernie Parent RC KSA 8.5

He looked in a published grading book and said a 68-69 Topps Orr 8.0 was estimated to be about $1000. (I don't have access to such a book.)

He's hoping someone with "investment" on their minds will buy the set and little by little, grade the rest.

Can anyone offer an "educated" guess on the selling price of such a set?

Paul

The complete set is worth about 750.00 us in nrmt condition. I suspect that with the graded cards it would be a about double but not sure.

Thanks to those who have offered an input. It is much appreciated.

I happened to see the set today and I can tell you that is it probably the nicest (NM-MT) set that I have seen.

Although KSA is not a greatly respected grader, I would think that PSA would grade these cards very, very similar (in my humble opinion).

I think I will advise my friend that $1200 to $1400 would be a ballpark estimate for such a set.

God, I wish I had the funds to invest in this set!

Thanks again everyone.

That was a set i recently sold. I advertised it here with no takers. The Orr alone is worth approx $1000 and should x over to a psa-8. It truely is one of the nicest sets i have ever seen. I have a 70-71 for sale that's in the same condition if not better. Double book for the 68 set would be a good price.

My friend has decided to market the Orr by itself and sell-off the rest of the set individually. He appreciates the input and ideas from you HI members! If I can get a scan, I'll post it here.
