Today, I decided to stop by my LCS to break something.

I finnaly chose a strange old box in sale for 10$ and an artifacts

Before the sale, the old box was at 40$ ....

After revision with google, I broke this product: 2003-04 ITG BAP Toronto Stars

This product is one of the worst I ever seen ! I've got 20 times this card , yes 20 times !! Also got 80/100 bases cards.

Here's the card :

And the box :

What the hell is that product ? And why does it had 20 times the same card in it ?

If you could answer please do it

BTW, I got all bases cards in my artifacts box (RETAIL)

Can you post a bigger picture of the box?

I am struggling to recall correctly, but I think perhaps each box intentionally had the same foil card in each pack. It wasn't really something that was intended to be sold by the box.

that was a Toronto exclusive. if you bought the Toronto star newspaper you could purchase a pack of cards from the box.
and yes each box featured the same foil player. I can't remember how often the foil switched though?

This. If you look at the front of the box, you can see whose box you've purchased and expect to find 20 copies of their foil card inside. It was intended to be a half set-builder's / half chase type of set. You built a simple base set like old times, but had to buy 30??? different packs to build the entire foil set. You knew whose foil you were getting though, because, like I said, there's a picture of the player whose box it is on the packaging, so there was very little guesswork.

here.s a bigger picture of the box :

There was a sticker on it saying : Featuring Giguere I tough it was an auto lol

It was wrapped in a plastic paper with the logo of BAP

In my head BAP = Autographs ...

If I am not mistaken the set was originally done by the Toronto Sun or another paper. Each day for a month (30 days) there was a coupon inside the paper daily which you were supposed to have to get the pack at the stores that supplied the packs (guessing the price originally was 3.49$), the add would show the player of the day or however you want to put it, the foil card. Thus every box was packed with the player with the sticker on the box as those were the cards to be handed out on that specific day..... Hopefully that makes some sense or his helpful...

Your dealer would like to thank you for your donation and lack of research.

Your dealer knew what he had. Those boxes are for sale at the Expo for $5 or less. If this is the shop that you frequent, then you got snookered. Your fault for not knowing what you were buying, but his fault for not educating a "regular".

okay ... But why does he has those box ? I live 250km in north of Quebec City ! We can't even buy the Toronto Star

Anyway, thanks for the explanations guys i'm not gonna buy this again (it has 2 more boxes)

They had tonnes of leftovers, there were boxes available here for a few bucks each as well. My mom got my father and I each a box for Christmas a few years back.

Far from snookered... He paid $10. There was likely more value in that box for $10 than what was in the artifacts box..... LOL

At one point Dave and Adams were blowing this out for $2.50 per box. The dealer likely saw this sale or something similar at a show or through a website and loaded up.

I was just going to say, I remember a while back seeing these boxes in Dave&Adams stores for either $4.99 or $9.99 /box. I remember asking what they were and being told "You don't want that, trust me..."
