Dubnyk's play for the :wild: is ridiculous look at the numbers!

TEAM GP W L T OT SO GA SA SV% GAA MIN
WILD 9 7 1 - 0 4 11 210 .948 1.31 505

I picked him up in the Yahoo hockey pool that I'm in with some of the other HI members. He's done wonders for my goalie stats! :)

Glad to see him doing so well, he's obviously worked very hard to get where he's at.

I think he credits Sean Burke(Arizona's goalie coach).

I watched him a lot when he was in Edmonton. He was lacking confidence and he had holes in his game.

Nice to see a really good & personable fellow get his game together.

Glad to see him achieve this success - the Oilers had their #1 goalie - they had no idea like they have in management in general.

Dallas Eakins had the Oilers wound up so tight trying to execute his system everyone was worried about making a mistake - unless you're Justin Schultz, who is so horrible defensively but was still enabled to play 22-23 minutes a night. He can't hit harder than a bag of cotton balls or a nasty granny with her purse...

If Hockey Canada saw enough to make him a goalie at several tournaments - don't you think he has more than a little bit of talent?

Dubnyk was as lazy a goaltender as I have ever seen, during his final year in Edmonton.
I was so happy to see him go at the time, but I blame the useless goalie coach we had then for all the bad habits Duby picked up.

Obviously he battled through the rejection stage of being traded so much last year, that he decided to dig his skates in and perform like the player he was supposed to be.

With that said, I am happy for him, as he is a real honest and gentlemanly hockey pro.
He's had a really great year!

He's looking good, but remember how hot Keumper started this year too.....personally I hope he keeps it up, since Minny is desperate for a starting goaltender, but history isn't on his side....

....Brian Boucher had 5 consecutive shutouts one season too, and we all know where he ended up. Ok...no we don't :) Dubnyk is very hot right now, but, I'm sure he will go back to "normal" soon. One just doesn't move from team to team in a short time for no reason. He's a mediocre goalie on the roll of his lifetime. Good for him though...he seems like a real good guy from anything I've seen or read about him.

I'm absolutely miffed. Saw him down here against Hamilton and he stunk up the joint. Really thought he was done but lone behold. Good on him

On the other hand, the future looks bleak for Peter budaj. Hasn't played well here when he got the chance and then hit with an injury. Can he do what Doobie did????

The beginning of the end for Dubnyk. ;)

:oilers: finally beat him for the first time ever 2 - 1.

Everyone was very quick to toss Dubnyk under the bus last year. "Bad Goaltending" was the reason for how awful the team was. Except consider his stats in the three years prior to Eakins showing up in Edmonton:

2010-11 35 GP 12-13-8 2.71 GAA .916 SV%
2011-12 47 GP 20-20-3 2.67 GAA .914 SV%
2012-13 38 GP 14-16-6 2.57 GAA .920 SV%

Great? No. Decent? Yes. Right in the "lower mid-range" of the pack.

The Eakins comes along, and pretty much every single player on the team regressed. How big a disaster of a hire he was, I don't think it can be overstated. I'm convinced that Eakins will go down as one of the worst coaching hires in the history of the league, and certainly the worst in the history of the Oilers (yes, I'm including George Burnett in that list).

Dubnyk was a decent goalie, on a bad team, putting up okay numbers. I was always convinced that he'd be a solid "top 20" netminder going forward, if the team in front of him was half decent. Eakins came in, the team played horrible hockey, and Dubnyk was tossed to the curb as a scapegoat. Nearly a decade worth of development time thrown away, so the coach could have an excuse.

Last year, after being kicked aside from playing for one of the most poorly coached teams in NHL history, he was passed around between a few teams, and must have read quite a few articles regarding the fact that he'd never make it in the NHL again. All the while he had a newborn back in Edmonton. I'd imagine the whole thing wasn't very good for his head, distracted, and zero confidence. He was awful in Nashville & Hamilton (I don't think ever got called up by the Habs??) and if I remember correctly, actually got the Habs to let him end his season early.

Obviously his numbers with Minnesota are not sustainable. Carey Price couldn't keep numbers like that going for the the long haul, but if Dubnyk becomes a regular #1 goalie in the league for the duration of his next (long term) contract... and is in the range of "top 10" goalie in terms of GAA / SV%..... it would not surprise me in the least.

I say good for him. He's getting a chance to win, he's pretty much guaranteed himself a nice pay day in the offseason.... while reminding all of us how poorly run the Edmonton Oilers truly are.

Devil's advocate ... what are the chances he resigns with the Oilers in the offseason? Wouldn't that be quite the reunion?

lol. If he has any brains, the chances are zero...... of course, they could always offer the best deal, making him say yes :)

The funny thing is, he pretty much fits the bill as exactly the kind of goalie they need to go out and get.

Oh......I forgot to announce it before the Oilers game.....

I picked up Dubnyk in our work's hockey pool.

So he's sure to tank (and cost me the win) now.

The Oilers?????!!!!!!! C'mon.
