Hi guys. Trying to get into Baseball Collecting (cards that is). I have bought Topps Chrome, Tier 1, Allen & Ginter...

What boxes do you guys like and why? I am not looking for the "best looking basecard" I am looking for the best ratio of "hits"

I have so many darn base cards in my house I dont know what to do with them all. I have kept most of the hits and now I am selling them off. But I want to venture into Baseball and Maybe Basketball.

So this question is two parts:

1) For Baseball, whats the best bang for the buck (hits ratio) out there

2) For Basketball, Whats the best bang for the buck (Hits Ratio) Out there.

Ok, now I KNOW its Impossible to say a box will have a great hit.. But in your opinions, whats been the best product to YOU for hits/ratio.

I also know its where you buy your stuff (reputable versus fly by night and Ebay) so where do YOU like to buy your stuff?

I am not a case buyer. Too rich for my blood. I am usually only a Hockey guy. Best product I have bought to ME is SPGU and SPX. I have bought the Cup and PLENTY of Ultimate Collection but I seem to get the best bang for the buck with SPGU and SPX even SP Authentic as well (all hockey related). I was wondering if they are the same for other Sports with SPGU/SPx?SP Authentic

Thanks a bunch!

Happy Holidays!!!

Bowman Chrome is one of the most consistent breaks. While you're not going to get a huge hit too often a lot of the baseball market nowadays revolves around prospecting and Bowman Chrome is the gold standard for that.

thank you. Yeah I got A LOT of RC cards in there but when I posted them up, people were saying they are just BaseCards even though it says "RC" up top or on the bottom.

I was bummed when I heard that. Plus I had NO clue as to who the "good" rookie(s) were/are or not

Yeah that's also a hazy thing with baseball, there are RC's then there are first year cards. And they're not always the same thing. Bowman Chrome RC Autos are the go to though.

ok thank you guys. I will just stick with the Bowman Chrome's.

As for SPGU's and stuff.. do they make them for Basketball and are they decent?

Upper Deck has lost its licensing for Basketball. Panini has the exclusive there. SPx seemed to be alright the last couple of years, and SP Game Used was so-so. But if you want to start with the newest stuff it'll pretty much have to be Panini for basketball. If you like college hoops Upper Deck has adapted SP Authentic into a college basketball set this year with plenty of North Carolina Tar Heel representation .
