Best Uncle Ever
Here's a little story about how I started in this wonderful hobby. Back in 1988, I was around 10, My Uncle Mike gave me a gift I will never forget, a cigar box full of mid 1960's to early 1970's baseball cards from his childhood!!! He had somehow avoided the cliche story of "My mom threw out all my cards" that I had heard from my Dad so many times, and put aside this cigar box for years. He told me about the cards a little bit before giving them to me, and said they were in good condition and he knew a couple would probably be valuable. Imagine the excitement and thoughts running through my head as a 10 year old as I tried to picture the gift I was about to receive. The cigar box had a few hundred cards neatly stacked and in great condition. I want to give thanks to my Uncle Mike for really giving me a head start in this hobby.
