I think someone posted and said at some point before that UD stitches on extra lettering onto jerseys to have extra patch material. Not sure if that's 100% accurate though, or the details

ok if this is true, it's getting more than ridiculous! All patches cards will be worth next to nothing in a couple of years and we'll go back at collecting Pro Set and stamps.

UD has been doing this for years. It's well known that they do this with photoshoot jerseys.

I agree with lucscaps, the first one looks exactly like the Canada flag shoulder patch from a flames jersey. Not sure about the other two...

Thanks for all the responses everyone, did not think upper deck put random patches like the CA flag on a non CA jersey.

First one is definitely from the Flames canada shoulder patch. I don't think UD uses those on their photoshoot jerseys simply because the quality of that patch is much higher than the fake letters UD stitches on for extra patches.

The other 2 are definitely the add-on stitched letters that UD puts on photoshoot jerseys.

Maybe this has been discussed at length before. Why doesn't UD just have pictures of the cards on their website? It would instantly solve the issue regarding fake patches.

Even if it's a picture of the entire sheet before cutting. At least collectors can see if there a white patch that's been turned into a 4 color patch with 5 breaks.

Easy, tiger. Event-worn photoshoot materials have always had "bonus" items on them. It's three days before Christmas, climb down from that metaphorical ledge and enjoy some egg nog.

lol. I will do more than this. I will also enjoy the extra money that I would normally spend on patch cards :) thanks for your enjoyable comment.

wow. thanks for the nice example. IMO this is pushing it but I cannot say it here because you get :

''collect what you want and enjoy life while you are healthy''

type of comments. :)

Thanks for showing this.

Someone must have that picture of the 2008 Photoshoot jersey?? I think it was a Penguins one??

I remember seeing pictures from that year's photo shoot, and you could see a pile of jerseys sitting on a table behind the players signing, , and I remember of all things, a Marc Andre Gragnani Sabres jersey with his name sewn along the bottom hem of the jersey...

I also remember seeing a picture from the Football RPS where Tim Tebow was wearing a jersey while signing autos with all kinds of extra Nike swoosh and Florida patches on them..
