2 seasons ago, I went to a 67s game, They had the arena version of heroes and prospects and me and my buddy grab a couple packs, well he happens to pull a cory perry, card. Now we were playing the london knights, and they were really popular then so i asked if he would trade the perry for, all my cards ( I didnt care about the ones i pulled), I put the perry in my wallet, and after the game we go to get autographs from the 67s, now usually oposing players dont come up to talk to the fans, but cory and adam perry did. I had my sharpie becuase i was getting autos anyway, and I asked if he would sign my card, and we talked about world juniors and stuff, my freind got his ticket sub signed too.

Ive also met other people at the 67s games, I met steve yzerman becuase he was just there, and Scotty bowman and Johny bower at autograph signings.

Jason Blake was the first i have ever got an IP from but Sean Hill was the first to stand and chat with me. He was really nice. It was at the practice.

I met Mario Lemieux way back in 1995 when they played the Sens. I owned a bar on Bank Street. He came in once the day before a game. I rushed home to get my OPC rookie which he signed for me. I still have it on display :)

Hubby and I went to a Motor City Mechanics game (when they were a team) when the lock out was going on.. and I met Sean Avery  and got a shirt signed... so that would be the first NHL player Ive ever met

Like alot of kids in Winnipeg did I met Bobby Hull several times in the late
70's. So he would be the first to many to mention.

first guys I ever met were Tony Tanti and Gord Dineen ....they used to have a thing at the local supermarket here to getyour pics taken with players and that who was there

Sittler and Dionne were the first I met. I was good friends with Yanic Perrault when he played for the Baby leafs so I meet a ton of players through him. My favorite so far (besides Potvin) was Guy Lafleur, I met him at a Legends game 2 years ago (also got to have a few beers with him and talk hockey).

Gordie Howe way back a show in 1992 I think..was 5.00 (hm I think me should have bought a few more in looking back now). Met a bunch shortly after but in trying to think back I believe he was first hockey...although I had met many others in other sports but not in hockey.

I met a bunch of Capitals I think back in 1997 or 1998 after one of their Capitals. Most memorably for me was metting Olie Kolzig. I was as tall as he was and he was in all of his equipment :D haha

1972 in Vancouver I met Babe Pratt, Gary Bergman and Mickey Redmond within five minutes of walking into Pacific Coliseum. On the Sunday afternoon I met Gilbert Perreault and Orland Kurtenbach. A great weekend for me.

I think Larry Robinson was the first hockey player I met. I was 10 or so and he was with the oldtimers challenge team. Had a dry spell of ohh... 14 years or so before meeting the Canada world cup team. I made up for it by getting a ton of autos that day :)

I've met a few, but the funniest was the "Crazy Eights" line (Lindros, Recchi and Fedyk) in a Calgary bar on New Years eve in 1993 (I think). I got their autos on the back of a beer label. Dave Brown was there, too, and he was the biggest guy in the bar.

The first NHL player I met was Stephane Fiset, when he was for the Nordiques.

Also met Jocelyn Thibault and a few players of the team that weekend.

They went into my 1300 lives village for a special exhibition, because the owner of the team (Marcel Aubut) is native of my place.

I still have their autos in a Nordiques book in my cards room :)

First player I met in person and actually talked to was Patrick Roy. It was in the late '80's and I had just gone to a North Stars-Canadiens game at the old Met Center. My friend and I then headed over to a sports bar close by (Joe Senser's) to have a few brewskis. So we're at the bar and in walk Claude Lemieux, Patrick, and a couple other players who I didn't recognize. Remember now, Patrick was still early in his career and wasn't the superstar goalie yet....and hockey players weren't huge celebrities in those days yet either...so a lot of people didn't even know who they were. Some people recognized Lemieux as he was more well-known then the other guys. They ordered beers and they started talking amongst themselves. Patrick, like a typical goalie, distanced himself from the other players and just went over against the wall under a big screen TV with his beer and just stood there alone. Claude and the other guys stayed at the bar. Well, seizing this opportunity, I walked over to Patrick and started talking about the game they just played. He was very personable and we talked for over 10 minutes. No one else in the place knew who he was except me. Weird. Trying doing that now! After we talked, I thanked him and said "good game" and wished him well in the future. Well, my wishes were correct as he turned into arguably the best goalie of all-time!

As he became more and more of a star through the years, I still remember that night just hanging out at the sports bar talking with that Montreal goalie with the French-Canadian accent with the funny head movements and mannerisms (yes, the head jerking you see him do on the ice he did just standing in a bar, too). A fond memory to know I was hanging out with a future great! Hopefully, Patrick is still as nice as he was then and hasn't let the stardom (or the lack of public privacy from the stardom) get to him. Some guys turn into egotistical jerks when they become stars, or become mad at people for always hounding them in public. Hope Patrick is still OK.

I've met a ton of other players since, but that night stands out! :)

The first autograph and player I met was Luc Robitaille when he came to our school and I was a young fella in the late eighties. I think Jimmy Carson came with him. Pretty cool at the time even before Luc potted all those goals.

My friends and I started to hound for autos when we got to high school and the first team we went for was Calgary. The first visiting player I ever got was Paul Ranheim and the second was Al MacInnis. We did North Stars a few weeks later and I remember handing Mike Modano 8 cards and him very graciously signing them all. Unfortunately I was new to the graphing thing still and smudged about half of those stacking them up on each other before the ink dried!
