Do you think if the Oilers should win the Cup, that McDavid YGs increase in value or has he levelled off. He is very capable of dominating the series and possibly grabbing the Conn Smythe, will this have a big effect on his card values?
Let’s hear your opinions.
Cheers
Dan.

I don't think there will be... I'm just thinking of the number of graded McDavid rc's I see in all of the big dealers showcases at shows... the commodity based ones (YG's) aren't moving quickly at their current ask... what I think you'll see if they win is a further absorption of stock from seller to buyer at current prices. Or basically, the Cup win will justify the already in place pricing.

I have no idea if they will go up or down but what I can add is I had no problem moving 4 BGS 9.5 YG's and 2 PSA 10 YG's at the expo. I was priced at comp and they went by Friday. If you where priced right they moved. Repackers and Whatnot sellers are a real thing but that is a topic for another day...

Unless I rememberg wrong, Ovechkin had a definite bump in prices when they won the Caps won the Cup.

Ovy YG's weren't overpriced already at the time the Caps won the Cup.

McDavid YG's are seriously overvalued relative to their print run. I don't think there is much room to grow. Some of his other key RC's such as FWA and Cup could see a bump from wealthy investors, but YG's, I am not so sure.

Thanks for all the replies folks and keep them coming.
I sort of agree that his YG is probably overpriced due to the big influx a few years back of new collectors/investors who bought up all they could find at relatively high prices.

Will NVIDIA prices jump with further advancements in AI? Most likely but the stock is already trading at insane multiples so from an investment perspective there is much higher growth upside from picking up some common Young Guns of some bum before he makes a name for himself.

Will the price fall if McDrai fail? They'll realistically have one more crack at it together before Drai leaves or gets such an insane raise that they have to gut their non existent depth.

Will his YG go up if he wins? Certainly. Bake in a gold medal two years from now and it'll go even higher. Its a seriously overprinted card though in comparison to Ovechkin and Crosby.

He also had a bump when everyone realized that he was within reach of Gretzky’s record.

Going back to McDavid…he did reach the playoffs in 16-17 but lost to the Duck who lost to the Preds, who lost to Pens in the Finals. This playoff performance was unexpected and was McDavid’s sign of leading a team with a 100 pt season. The playoffs were tough for him, not as many points but Drai showed up and hasn’t stopped since. McDavid got a bump, slight, but a bump…more of a stability bump establishing his place as a star. Prices were less fluctuating after this.

So, with this in mind, he may get another bump of similar nature. More of a stability bump. Crosby got this after his 1st and 2nd Cup.

If you want to talk bump, the Florida players will definitely get a bump if they win. Rhienhart, Bennett, Barkov, Ekblad, Tkachuk, to name a few, will get a bigger stable bump than anyone. Skinner and Holloway will get the biggest in Edmonton.
