Wings scores tying goal vs Kings (watch the goal, Kings gets screwed)

The Kings got hosed tonight no doubt......I'm sure that rule will change next year because of this game.

They want to speed up the flow of the game so I think they should allow the puck to be played off the screen anyways. But the Kings did get hosed on this one.

This is about the tenth or eleventh instance I have seen in the past couple of months that begs for the NHL to institute a Coach's Challenge.

If Sutter could have 'thrown a flag' that goal would not have been allowed.

What I find absolutely amazing is that there were FOUR officials on the ice who had no clue what had happened. This one ranks right up there with the Duschene offside-by-15-feet goal last year.

Seriously though, NHL officiating is really becoming a running joke.

coach's challenge. unfortunately 1990 is still calling NHL let alone modern technology. I think a regime is needed to get this sport respectable again.

I didn'twatch the highlights from last night so this video was the first time I watch the goal, man that's not even close the puck hit the netting like 30 feet in the air!!!

Hard to understand why a NON-goal like this is not reviewable.
Ridiculous that the kings lose a point that can be a huge difference in the West at the end.

On a note that non-wings fans might not know:

This is EXACTLY what happened to the wings 5 or 6 years ago against San Jose, also at Joe Louis Arena. off the net and lands in front of the net and is banged in with no officials seeing it hit the net. So the wings were kind of owed one.

Still - how can no one see it?

Every scoring play in the NFL is reviewed in the booth and it doesn't slow the game down at all - why can't this be done in the NHL, no challenge flag needed.

In the end, this is a pretty big flub for the officiating crew.

Agreed, but this one isn't on the officiating crew. It's on the league. The refs couldn't have reviewed it if they wanted to.

This pisses me off as a Jackets fan. Those points are huge for the Wings.

No kidding! This effects not only Columbus, but could have a huge effect on how the entire east finishes this year, and some team may miss out on the playoffs because of those 2 points Detroit got from the results of that oversight.

4th Montreal Canadiens 59 points
5th New York Rangers 57 points
6th Toronto Maple Leafs 57 points
7th Philadelphia Flyers 56 points
8th Columbus Blue Jackets 52 points
9th Detroit Red Wings 52 points
10th Washington Capitals 52 points
11th Ottawa Senators 51 points
12th New Jersey Devils 51 points
13th Carolina Hurricanes 49 points
14th New York Islanders 47 points

So you can see by the standings how big those 2 points are for Detroit, because they probably lose that game, and drop to 50 points, and in 13th place behind NJ, OTT, and WAS. One of those teams from 4th to 14th is not making the playoffs because of the extra 2 points given to Detroit. This is gonna be a huge mess at the end, I can just feel it. What is the 9th place team gonna say if they are one point behind Detroit, if they so happen to finish in 8th place?
