Winnipeg Collectors: What happened to Superstars Sports?

I’m not much of a collector anymore but I drove down Portage Ave today and was sad to see Superstars was gone and as best as I can tell it’s closed completely. Superstarsp was THE place to buy cards in Winnipeg for like the last 20 years, likely longer. Al and Kyle were always extremely friendly, always acted like they remembered me when I went to look for Iginla singles or buy packs the couple times a year that I went there. A buddy of mine swears they did but that’s besides the point, those guys were always so nice!

Just hit me in the feels today that that place is no longer there even though it’s been a couple years since I’ve been there. Anyone know what happened?

It was a shop I always visited when passing through Winnipeg and I believe it had been there for around 30 years. It did close about a year ago; however, I don't know the exact reason. My only observation is that the son was never into the card business as much as his father was and it was obvious that Al was winding down his involvement in the hobby.
