Your New Impressions of Upper Deck 04-05

Now that a lot of the pint runs have been released (and re-released) and everyones had a good look at all the "goodies," have your impressions of the product changed?

Do you like, or dislike it?

It seems there are a lot of "case cards" which fetch relatively good money.

- Big Playmakers
- 97 Jersey
- Heritage Jersey
- Auto/jersey
- Dual/Triple jersey

Then a buncha lower numbered parallels, a chance at a patch card, SP "young guns", etc.

For a case with 12 hobby boxes, that seems like pretty good odds of not completely tanking on any 1 given box.

Young Guns are obviously weak, although it is cool to see cards of Hobey Baker and such. The amount of HG's and Can. Exclusives just makes one mad if they are a player collector. I think the NHL's Best is a nice set and the retro or whatever jersey thing from the old school ones is a neat idea.....but the world cup tribute is a bust, they should have used actually jerseys from world cup play, or just not done the set IMO.

I'm not complaining about the patches, I got the Forsberg /5 when we thought it was /20

Well I have a complete UD set from 90-91 to 03-04 and I am debating whether that will continue. I'm not spending $80 on a box so I have to start from scratch. Not really
impressed at all with it.

Not really impressed with it but bought a few boxes just to open something new. 2 out of 4 didn't have the 2 jerseys in them which is the norm for upperdeck. I won't buy anymore unless I find a really good deal on the boxes.

Aside from the Heritage Classic jersey set and the World Cup Tribute Triples. I'm not much of a fan.
I do like the design of the base set over last years effort though.

I'm disappointed with the set. I was hoping that the Heritage Classic and World Cup cards would have used jerseys from the events and not just normal GU. I might finish up my base set but that's about it.
