It's an exciting time in the NHL right now.
Its seems like everyone is in the rumor mill and there is so much going on.

Each year I make this post and the same question

How does this next shape up to affect your PC.

For me this is the first time I feel my PC guy Henrique may not be safe. I just have this feeling there may be a deal there.

If it was to happen I'd have two options in my eyes

1) Stop at Devils only cards and call it a day, see if I can get those last cards available.
2) Follow to the new team - depending on the team - and pickup what some new stuff.

I don't forsee a time where I would dump what I got in any way as I really do like the cards I have.

So tell me hobby people, what do you forsee happening?

Why don't you feel Henrique is safe? He obviously won't be exposed in the expansion draft. While there is expected to be more activity than normal this off-season, I haven't heard any Henrique rumors, nor do the Devils need to clear cap space. He seems more like the kind of player the Devils will try to build around for the next few seasons.

If he does end up getting traded, just follow the old hobby advice of do what you like. Do you collect the team or the player more? If you've followed Henrique his entire career, including pre-NHL, then stick with it! If you collect him because he's on NJ, maybe find a new player to collect and continue picking up Henrique cards featuring him as a Devil.

Not too worried about Carey Price going anywhere.
Not sure what Buffalo's expansion draft plans are so don't know if Gorges is safe or not.
Hoping that the Habs end up re-signing Radulov after the expansion draft.
Looking forward to Drouin in Habs gear in 2017-18 products.

With Zacha, McLeod, Quenneville coming in and possibly Nolan or Nico I feel they will use either of Zajac or Henrique to get a dman. Zajac's contract is very hard to move.
we'll see though. The team is starting to turn over to younger guys and Hall.

no matter where Brandon Sutter goes I will pick up his cards, even if its to a team I dont like

Ryan O'Reilly was traded at the 2015 NHL Draft and my PC just keeps moving along.
He will be the last PC I do as a collector. It gets hard at times to compete with a new fan base for rare low numbered cards.

I don't really mass collect any current players... so there will be no effect on my collection in the sense that I may suddenly own a bunch of cards I don't want.

If Benoit Pouliot gets picked (let's hope!) The two cards of him in my PC will stay there.

The offseason, in general, will mean changes to the Oilers - so there should be a few new players for me to pick up.... at least a RC, hopefully an Auto and/or GU (hopefully a single card that checks all three of those boxes!) and I'll add an Oilers card to the collection eventually.

Hmm....

St. Louis Blues
Toronto Maple Leafs
Phoenix Coyotes
Calgary Flames
Pittsburgh Penguins
New York Rangers
Winnipeg Jets
New Jersey Devils
Boston Bruins
Carolina Hurricanes

I think I'll keep going. :)

I found it to be a little weird the first time Eaves went to a different team but at this point it doesn't really make difference to me. The way I see it I started collecting him because I liked the way he played and the Sens were more of a way for me to see him. He's still the same player even though he's been on a bunch of different teams

Even though I am a Flyers fan I usually don't Player PC anyone, just the team as a whole to avoid the disappointment if they were to leave.

As for my main PC's Tyson Barrie and Jonathan Huberdeau I'd probably follow them as long as it isn't a team that I really dislike, not that I see Huberdeau going anywhere soon...

Rumour mill has it that Tyson Barrie could be joining Jonathan Drouin in Montreal...

I'm just hoping Enroth signs somewhere. Anywhere.

Best case scenario Anaheim could re-sign him as Gibby's backup for cheap since they've seen what he can do in the AHL with the San Diego Gulls. Proves he's a very capable goalie that can still play and stop a lot of pucks. Plus he's only 28-29 y/o.

With other Free Agent options, I'm not sure any teams will take a chance on a goalie who's under 6ft. I hope I'm wrong, but that could be the case. He can be had for cheap though (around $600k-$750k) and he has NHL experience as a backup, so maybe he'll catch on somewhere.

Either way, whether he signs in the NHL or somewhere else, I'll still picking up his cards no matter where he goes.
