Upper Deck Unveils an Ultimate End to the NHL Season |
|
As the NHL’s conference finals get ready to begin, hockey fans are finding another reason to cheer this season. Upper Deck has released 2007-08 NHL Ultimate Collection, the super-premium release that takes card collecting to new levels with limited-edition autographed and game-used cards of the game’s best and brightest.
Collectors will find at least one autograph, memorabilia and rookie card in every four-card pack, but that’s just the beginning. The real excitement starts with some of the chase elements incorporated in the set for rare signed jersey and patch cards, oversized game-used patch cards, as well as multi-player patch and signed cards. Collectors who are looking to add something very special to their hockey collection need to look no further than Ultimate Collection.
The other chase aspect to the set surrounds the autograph rookie cards. The majority are limited to just 399, but a group of six of them are short-printed to just 99 versions. Players appearing in that short-printed group include Jonathan Toews (Blackhawks), Carey Price (Canadiens), Nicklas Backstrom (Capitals), Peter Mueller (Coyotes), Jiri Tlusty (Maple Leafs) and Patrick Kane (Blackhawks).
Collectors can find 2007-08 NHL Ultimate Collection in stores now. The product carries a suggested retail price of $100 per four-card pack.

Upper Deck and USA Baseball take Annual Box Set to Greater Heights
One of the most exciting components of collecting baseball cards is to speculate on young prospects in the hopes they will become huge stars in the future. Nowhere is there a better crop of young talent than with the USA Baseball National Teams whose alumni include the likes of Scott Kazmir, Dustin Pedroia, Troy Tulowitzki and Justin Upton to name a few. Upper Deck is proud to partner with the National Governing Body to produce the annual USA Baseball National Teams Box Set for the prospect laden 2007 National and Junior National Teams.
The base set is deep with sixty cards featuring the National and Junior National Teams. There is no shortage of content as well, boasting seven autograph cards and two game-used memorabilia cards per box. Adding to the chase are rare multi-signed cards as well.
Collectors will not need to wait long to find these sets as Upper Deck plans to have them in the market by late May. However, Upper Deck will only be producing 10,000 sets and with so much autograph and game-used content, it’s likely these sets will not be on store shelves for very long. Each 69-card set will carry a suggested retail price of $64.95.

Innovation Meets Reputation: Upper Deck and Hunt Auctions Join Forces |
|
Honesty, integrity and authenticity. These adjectives describe a pair of established sports memorabilia companies that have cemented their reputations based on the fact that they sell only autographed and game-used articles that are guaranteed authentic. Peace of mind for their customer base is of utmost importance to both the Carlsbad-based Upper Deck Company and Hunt Auctions, out of Exton, Pennsylvania. And by sharing that philosophy, the two industry giants have decided to lock arms in order to provide “the ultimate marketplace for high-end vintage sports memorabilia,” according to Dan Schmidt, Upper Deck’s auctions manager. Hunt Auctions has sold some of the world’s most coveted sports artifacts, from Babe Ruth’s inaugural 1933 All-Star Game home run baseball ($805,000) to Lou Gehrig’s game-worn Yankees uniform from the 1938 World Series ($402,000). From Joe DiMaggio’s 1947 AL Most Valuable Player Award plaque ($281,750) to Ty Cobb’s 1928 Philadelphia Athletics autographed game-worn home jersey ($236,000). So by acquiring Hunt Auctions and its incredible inventory of vintage sports pieces, Upper Deck will now have an even wider assortment of memorabilia items – chronicling decades of the sports world’s most glorious players and moments – to showcase to its most passionate sports fans.

Rookie of the Year Frontrunner Kevin Durant Helps Take Upper Deck’s 2007-08 SP Authentic Basketball to Greater Heights |
|
Every single year, basketball card collectors anxiously await the release of Upper Deck’s SP Authentic Basketball product. This year is no different as Upper Deck’s sought-after roundball launch has once again raised the rim by offering one “Autographed Rookie Patch” card in every other box. And leading the way is first-year Seattle Supersonics sensation Kevin Durant, who just happens to be Upper Deck’s latest exclusive basketball spokesmen. Leading his team in scoring (19.4) and blocks per game every night, Durant could easily be on the road to “Rookie of the Year” honors if he maintains his blistering pace. And collectors are starting to take notice of the rising star as he battles every night for the Emerald City cagers. But beyond Durant’s presences in this year’s SP Authentic release, Upper Deck has also included some other first-year talent that’s worth mentioning: Michael Conley (Memphis), Al Horford (Atlanta), Corey Brewer (Minnesota), Jeff Green (Seattle) and former Florida Gator two-time NCAA champion Joakim Noah, now sporting the red-and-white uniform of the Chicago Bulls.
