Gotta side with Philip Rivers when he openly blasted Cutler on numerous occasions. The guy is a bit of a sissy, no? Just shut up, take your millions, and play the darn game.......

Who do you think will be the major players looking to add him to their team?

Cutler a no-show at McDaniels’ first team meeting

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP)—Jay Cutler was a no-show on Monday for coach Josh McDaniels’ first team meeting and the start of the Denver Broncos’ offseason workouts, and if he gets his way, he’ll never step foot in the team’s training facility again.

“The Denver Broncos confirm that Jay Cutler has requested a trade,” team spokesman Jim Saccomano told The Associated Press on Monday.

ESPN first reported that Cutler, still upset that the Broncos tried to trade him for New England quarterback Matt Cassel last month, had asked for a trade through his agent, Bus Cook.

Cook, who was traveling, didn’t return phone calls to The AP. The Denver Post quoted McDaniels as saying he wanted to meet again with Cutler to try to resolve their differences before considering a trade.

Cutler told ESPN he would attend every mandatory minicamp and training camp but would skip the offseason training program, which won’t subject him to fines. Although it’s voluntary, the coaches expect everyone to attend the team’s offseason program.

The Broncos’ first minicamp is April 17-19, a week before the draft.

Cutler and McDaniels met face-to-face Saturday along with Cook and general manager Brian Xanders. Cutler was expecting a reconciliation, but the meeting didn’t go well from his standpoint, resulting in the trade request.

The Broncos have said they have no interest in trading their star quarterback, who set several team passing records last season and just played in his first Pro Bowl.

It’s looking increasingly likely, however, that trading Cutler might be the only way to resolve the dispute.

Cutler has been unhappy since learning that McDaniels, who was New England’s offensive coordinator the last three seasons, entertained the notion of trading him to Tampa Bay in a three-way swap that would have brought Cassel from the Patriots to Denver. New England instead traded Cassel to Kansas City.

Cutler believes McDaniels, who replaced Mike Shanahan in January, misled him about those trade talks.

McDaniels has said all he did was listen to the trade proposals, as he would with any player, as he tries to rebuild a Broncos team that hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2005.

The Broncos have been the NFL’s most active team in free agency, signing 15 players, including quarterback Chris Simms, a former starter in Tampa Bay who has thrown just two passes since having emergency surgery to remove his spleen after a game in 2006.

Simms signed for two years and $6 million, ostensibly to serve as Cutler’s backup.

I was starting to be a big fan of Cutler, but not now. I don't understand why he doesn't realize this is a business. Everyone, Everyone gets talked about on trade day.
If Elway, Gretzky, Shaq, and A-rod can get traded, then so can you.
Although I'd prefer he stas, if he has to go I hope we get something real good in return for him.

If Cassel and Vrabel were only worth a 2nd then i cant see Cutler getting anything close to a 4th-5th.

That's grasping to say the least. Cutler is a year younger, with quite a bit more upside. He dominated Cassel in virtually every category while playing on a much less talented team. He's a large mouth piece pain in the arse that is still going to be the subject of several large trade offers if he maintains his desire to be traded. There isn't going to be a cheap deal for whoever acquires him. Don't forget Cassel was a situation where NE took whatever they could get for him before they lost him.

Althoug he's a meathead, he is worth more then Cassel or Vrabel. I can see certain teams giving up their first round pick to grab him.

Agreed - and should the Vikes make the decision to bring him in, it would make this guy a happy camper!

Cutler's not going anywhere. He's gonna get over being butt-hurt and be the quarterback for the Broncos on opening day. The reason is that the Broncos wont trade him. Any team trading for him would have to return a starting-caliber QB, period. The teams that want/need him don't have one, thus the interest in Cutler.

The ones who could return fair QB value for Cutler are teams like the Cowboys (Romo), Packers (Rodgers), Eagles (McNabb) and Chiefs (Cassel...HA HA!) and they wouldn't make the move. Teams like Cleveland, who could move Anderson or Quinn, and Jacksonville, who could offer Garrard, wouldn't offer decent replacement value for a Pro Bowl QB like Cutler so the Broncos wouldn't deal with them unless they absolutely had to. Teams who would LOVE to get Cutler (Lions, Bucs, Jets, etc.) don't have nearly enough to offer. The only reason the Bucs were in line to get Cutler in the 3-way trade that didn't happen was because the Broncos were in line to get Cassel.

The Broncos are not going to be happy with Chris Simms as their starter and the available free agent QBs (guys like Byron Leftwich and Jeff Garcia) are stopgaps at best. They already have a franchise QB and aren't gonna just give him up for a 1st round draft pick and a bag of footballs just because his feelings were hurt. He'll suck it up and play for the Broncos or he'll sit home waiting for a trade that wont come and not get paid.

EDIT - Its Culter and a Fourth round pick for First Round Picks in 09 and 10 plus a 09 third round pick and Orton - wow - that's a lot

I was hoping he would head to the Vikes - now I hate him more than before.

Did friggin' Ditka put that deal together? Holy overpaying, Batman...Cutler's getting bad advice from someone. Will Chicago be any different?

Wait until Lovie or Urlacher hurts his feelings the first time...

Am I the only one who thinks that Chicago didn't overpay?

Draft picks are so over-blown and overrated. Really, what are the odds that draft pick turns out to be a productive member of your team, let alone a Jay Culter-type player? This is a strong deal for the Bears and makes them a serious NFC contender.

Cutler's success in large part is because of the system he was in... with a new coach and OC in Denver, there was a decent chance he was gonna get crushed OFTEN this year.

Would I give up 2 #1 picks for Cutler? No way... that's too much in my mind.

That said, the Bears did snag Orlando Pace yesterday, which should help that O-Line of theirs...

Homer comments incoming.....I think this is a solid pickup for the Bears, both from a personnel and a $ perspective. When you consider the position of their 1st round picks, they really didn't surrender any potentially life altering talent, and they saved the $ that the choice would be slotted to receive. This franchise hasn't had a solid pro bowl QB in forever, so this was a little desperation and a whole lot of smarts on the Bears part. Da Bearsssss. :)

I think the Bears DID overpay. Did they solidify their offence? Absolutely. If Cutler can wear a jock instead of frillies, then they're in much more capable hands than they were with Orton. Orlando Pace protects their investment.

My issue is that Cutler sulked his way off of an offensive powerhouse to one that was poor last year. If things don't go his way in Chi-town, will he sulk again?
