1) There is a 50/50 chance the card will never be made.
2) After waiting two years the value will be drastically reduced on the market.
3) Multiple calls to UD or any other card company will only get you "We are waiting for the player to return the card" followed buy The card will not be made.Notify customer service for a replacement.
4) Your assumption of the value of the card will be 60% less than the card company will value it at.
5) If your one card is valued high expect many low valued replacements.
6) If you are buying the card for your PC your dream card hope maybe be shattered.See # 3 above

Please add to list of any other problems you might think of that I have forgot.

All pretty much true. Add to that the expiration date and pulling dud redemption cards from older products.

Totally agree. Got an Ultimate Datysuk/Zetterberg redemption and don't think it will be made.

I actually haven't had any problems with redemptions that I have purchased for PC cards (Oshie Black Letterman and various Muller Cup cards from last year) - I think each person has to be realistic when purchasing the cards. Ovechkin Cup cards this year being the example of what to look out for - one has to know full well that there is a better than average chance that these aren't coming back.

Now - do I like redemptions, no - but for my PC cards they have actually saved me money over the last year or so as the live versions have gone for 10-20% more on average.

With rookies it's a lot easier to make since UD can force them to sign. So RC redemptions aren't as bad as veteran ones. I feel bad for those who buy Shields or other super high end low print run redemptions and it doesn't get made...

Is another "let's get on the UD bashing train because of redemptions" thread really necessary"

Upper Deck and Other companies as stated read it again. The post is for any and all collectors who might think they are getting something for their PC which might not come true.

Bill,

Dealt with you lots on eBay, got nothing but respect for you. Regardless, I'm shutting this thread down for 2 reasons:
1) Original post makes some assertions which are factually incorrect.
2) At least in this subsection of the board, redemptions = UD as they hold the license - and this is sliding towards another UD bash. We really don't need another.

Feel free to PM me when you disagree. Hey, I have no illusions - I KNOW you'll disagree. But I'm willing to hear you out.
