You have to understand the serialization process... they tend to run a number of 000s to get the location, clarity, etc, right, and then run 1-249.
 
I think the question that begs to be asked is "did it surface as a result of being included in the pack-out?" The auction doesn't state anything about being pack-pulled.

Sure, why not? I'm very curious as to it's origins. Why wouldn't a collector be curious? There are members here on these boards that open dozens of cases of this stuff and I can't recall seeing a #000 pulled from a pack.

So....where did it come from and how did it end up on ebay?
 
The seller is making off with good money for a card worth nickels.

Hopefully it doesn't end up in the hands of some stiff who's going to threaten legal action. It's a silly card to even want to own, IMO. I'm thinking UD wins it back and destroys it.

It's from the initial setup of the serialization of the cards... it slipped through.
Nice oddball, but other than that, who cares?

There's no conspiracy, I just want to know more about it's origins and how it wound up where it is. Up until this thread I didn't even know that #000 singles existed. I think oddball items are cool. What collector wouldn't? A discussion doesn't have to be a conspiracy.

Why not? As mentioned above, it's probable that many 000/249 are printed to test out certain things like "location, clarity etc" in the serialization process.

If that's the case, it's highly probably one of these demo cards slipped through the cracks somehow. Even more so when you consider the card is in southern california.

C'mon, we can't discuss how a 000/# card made it out? NONE of us have ever seen one before, and you aren't really offering any real input to the discussion other than accusing those of us curious about the origins of this card of witch hunting.
 
Very interesting card. Seller's FB is not pristine, but most Neg & Neutral FB was about poor shipping. I'd guess the card is probably legit and not just a doctored photo.

Wouldn't that mean that there are potential many copies of the 000 out there and this one somehow slipped out. If in packs, then its just another example of UD's QC. Stellar. If not, then could be another leak in UD's factory. Again, Stellar.


There's also a lot of comments that seem to be shouting down other people's "questions".

First, to people who say that they're only asking questions. Don't Glenn Beck us here. I don't watch the man on TV because I don't want to listed to him. I'd really rather prefer not to read Beck-ian style ramblings either. Thank goodness it hasn't gotten that far yet.

To those shooting down the people who ask questions. You make it sound as though the industry is beyond reproach and nothing in the history of the card hobby has ever had a shady dealing once. I'm sure you don't really believe that. Maybe the fact that so many people are coming up with these conspiracies is indicative of a different problem in the hobby. Its possible to explain the issues without getting condescending. There's more than enough sarcasm here at HI directed at those who aren't part of the elite.

In the mean time. Go Nucks :canucks:

Cool 000/249. I wouldn't mind it in my PC, but not at the price that was paid.
 
Cards are QC'd before numbering. All this means is that the person numbering the cards started at 000 instead of 001 to begin the process. Its an user error. The Pack out process as Gomaz would attest to is handled by three people, which examines the content of each pack, making sure the right hits are in each pack, autos are clean, etc....

As Gomaz alluded to, it would be almost impossible to get the cup packout done if we were to examine every card like we really should. Ideally I would love to do so, but quite impossible. We probably still packing out the CUP as we speak. Sorry about that, but its reality. If it was possible, it would ideal, if I could individual packout the CUP. Can it happen (i guess so)? Is it going to happen (Probably not). If it delays the release date by a month, what are distributors, stores, consumer (o r even you) going to say.

Lets put a stop that this card was provided in any other manner. Its not a test card (those cards are not numbered), its from a pack.


I hope this helps put everyones mind at ease.
