nice link of complete draft order, total picks, etc.go here

Sounds like a bit much for Ballard but Bernier hasn't exactly made his mark with the Nucks and at 25th it was going to be a bit of a crapshoot - Ballard is a good up and coming Minnesota boy on the point, always nice to add a young puck moving defenseman.

TSN just posted that Michael Grabner is part of the Bernier-Ballard trade. Another player is in the mix, but I did not have the time to catch his name (hey, I am working here...).

EDIT: Oreskovich goes to Vancouver, 2010 25th pick to Florida. Trade is conditionnal to medical.

How will Columbus ruin this kid? Seems they have had terrible luck in the draft recently.

So for you Canucks fans the deal is looking like this....

Ballard, Oreskovich to Van for Bernier, Grabner and a 1st, but it could be next years 1st if Van's player is avail at 25.

Personally, I think Vancouver made out very well if the trade goes through. Bernier has always been way over rated to me, and Grabner was never going to live up to where they drafted him. Ballard is a huge addition to the Canucks blue line, Oreskovich must be a throw in for some reason which I can't figure out. He was drafted in 2004 by the Av's and really hasn't done anything since then from what I can tell.

Vancouver got the best player in the deal, a draft pick that low wasn't going to bring them a player that could step in and help a team win that is very close to a Cup, so I think it's a great move by the Canucks. Only question now is, does Ballard fill the roll Willie Mitchell played and is Mitchell heading to a new team?
