If/When will The Cup be available to order?

Your store thinks they know. An allocation means exactly that -- the numbers can change right up until the day it hits your shelves.

I'm pretty sure when Distributor X says you are getting at least Y cases, and they don't get Y cases, in writing, there's repercussions. If not then I don't know how the business works.

Distributor X doesn't issue anything in writing. You put in for how many you would like and the distributor then tells you how many he thinks you will get based on what he's being told he will receive in total. The manufacturer may not deliver as much as was originally planned, or they may deliver more. That's not the distributor's fault, obviously.

I don't know how it works. Maybe some stores get special privilege and, like you said, when the manufacturer doesn't deliver, the distributor can't deliver, but to certain stores he can deliver the promised written allocation he made at the cost of other stores word of mouth allocation. I'm not saying that's what is happening, but it's a possibility you have to consider.

Must be using a different distributor then. My store knows

As Wayne pointed out, your store knows what they ordered (and what the distributor accepted for an order)...not what they are going to get. It's the same thing every year from all of the distributors.

Everyone's order is the same. It's "Give me as much as you can, but hopefully more than last year." If you think no one, absolutely 0 people know, 6 days before the release... I want to know how you think for-profit-businesses are run.

These things were hand packed out a long time ago now. Has known the numbers for at least a week. It's favourite customer(s) (distributors) know, their favourite customers know (super shops I guess), and we the consumers are the last to know.

These cases are probably in transit now to distributors. If you think distributors are just waiting to see the surprise UD gives them, you're probably dealing with Prince.

Seeing that there are zero pre-sales available at the retail level (including the US Big 3...which have far more influence than all the dealers in Canada combined do), I'm inclined to think there's a reason and it's not because they know how much allocation they are getting

At the wholesale level they probably do know what they are getting but there is zero chance they are making that public to anyone as it would completely undermine their little "Oh, we'll have more next week but the price went up $30" shtick.

Any dealer that tells you he's getting xxxx cases at this point is hoping and speculating until the shipment day arrives (or his order is so small that it's irrelevant).

You obviously don't know how this works. Distributors play the "we didn't get as much as anticipated" game just prior to day of release in order to jack up prices less than a week later. Not a single LCS knows how much they will be getting until the day prior to their shipment from the distributor.

I was able to get my hands on ONE six tin case from an authorized upper deck internet dealer. They have said it will be at their store the 11th or at least have been told that.

Maybe that's Universal or Grosnor talk with you, but every year I ask for my cases and I get them. The number hasn't changed, I get them whenever I show up, etc etc. Routine is the same. I find out if/when it's released, ask if I'm still good for it, then reconfirm a week before, get confirmation, then show up on release and bust packs. It's been like this since 2008 and unless you're telling me the distributors have really stepped up their game, I doubt it's changed. Obviously they try to make more money, but they can't go from X cases last year and say oh this year we only got X/2 for you this week, but come back next week and we'll get you the other half at double the price. It might be 0.75X or something but I get mine, my stores get theirs, and there's never been any complaints. They never get less than they expect and their expectations are set prior to the week before.

It all depends on how many cases each store asks for and how "good" of a client said store is to the distributor. I'm positive some stores get better treatment than others depending on different things like amount of sales of other product, payment of invoices in a timely manner, etc. which makes complete business sense. However, some stores just aren't on distributors' priority lists and they tend to get shafted. Sucks but that's just the way it is

That's exactly what I was trying to say when people were saying there's no way a store can know how much. Some stores just do because the distributor will reduce other stores just to keep the bigger store happy. Oh well, hopefully everyone gets their share if not, PM me and maybe I can arrange something.
