I have a few damaged cards that have come from recent group breaks and is this something that I should have to deal with upper deck or the should the group break store or host doing the group break deal with upper deck and issuing a replacement? Im asking because a receipt from a group break is not the same as a box receipt so who should be handling the replacement for the damaged cards? I can't be the only one getting damaged product from group break

I don't have experience with this issue. But as far as customer service goes I would think if you can see the damage in the group break video. That would mean more than a receipt or box. But you could have trouble if they want a box #.

I think you have to deal with UD, the Host of the break should have all the info you need for when you contact them if the host has the box still. but I could be wrong

it's often not so simple.on card damage is not always visible and it would have to be damaged on the front for ud to see it. by the time the card gets to my house another 40 breaks have taken place and it is often 7-10 days after the break that the card see my fingers. the boxes are flattened out and put into recycling immediately too

What is the extent of the damage? Show pictures so people can offer better info. Was the damage direct from the break or during shipping?

Hey Brandon,

I contacted UD with the same situation and got case numbers for each of the ones damaged. Youll have to just mention it was a GB and if possible to take a screen shot of the card shown. I attached photos on each of thr claims im putting in. Also itll help to reference the video on youtube. Now I'm just waiting for them to come in so I can send them off. As far as what you'll expect to get back, this part I'm curious about because the one I'm sending back is a card from team Canada master collection. I doubt they can replace with anything similar.

Im thinking it probably direct from the break rather than shipping but I'm not totally sure. it is nighttime now. I will post pics tomorrow. Dinged corner and an edge lift. i find that pics dont often show the best results but i sill post some. the dinged corner is what most concerns me.. I'm interested in how it was resolved by others in similar situations

Damage is damage but who can help is what's important. If the damage is from the initial break then the breaker should go to bat for you with the card company. If the damage is from the shipping it's on the breaker only.

Thanks Patrick
Im hoping it will be a non issue. this particular card I have is a 1/5 and I don't mind dealing with upper deck but I kinda got an unsure response when mentioning it to UD.

It is our policy that we handle the situation - not the customer. Cards are inspected as the break is taking place - and I would suggest that is the case for all legitimate box breakers.

If the customer receives damaged card, the real question becomes if the manufacturer should cover damaged cards that were pulled, packed up and shipped out to a customer as the question becomes when exactly were the cards damaged (at the manufacturing end or during the shipping out process)???

I can check the UD policy for us authorized group breakers but common sense tells me that it should never be sent to you if it is damaged - the shop should take care of it for you.

Thank you for everyones input. For this particular card, the main issue is on the back. I couldn't say how it became damaged

Below is the card that is damaged. I sent a pic to upper deck to get a case number and to get the process going. it's too bad that this card didn't come in better shape. I also sent a small list of cards I would prefer for the replacement

BTW, I asked that the card be put into a one touch right after it was pulled. I don't think it was damaged in the mail. I could see a card getting damaged if it was put into a toploader where the top wasn't taped and the card peeked out of the top and got dinged but that didn't happen in this case
