Am I the only one scratching their head about this? I know its obvious that internet trolls are laughing hysterically right now but... Who the hell is John Scott? Perfect example of why fan voting it not a good idea.

Edit.... I know John isnt that cool with what is happening. Even he said he didnt deserve to be voted in.
I hope he does well.

Given my disdane for the all star game, who really cares.

There is nothing on the line for these guys and its a break from the regular season.

Fans get a chance to vote and its a wonderful thing.

Next year I will start a voting site to get Jonathan Bernier in. Now that would be a blast :)

He's a goon, and yes, there's a group of fans that began to give him troll votes and once it got traction, the NHL stopped posting the voting stats.

Last year, it was Girgensons, with the backing of Latvia, that made it into the All-Star game.

Previously (2007), Rory Fitzpatrick almost made it, which could have sparked the idea for the current NHL All star game voting. But fans have been stuffing their ballots for decades when given the chance to vote.

A meaningless player gets in to a meaningless game. So what. It gives the internet monkeys a reason to feel good about themselves for a few days.

think big guys , we are on a hobby board so if the ud brings back all star royalty subset for the cup..... it will be a true 1/1

IM IN ON THIS

Next year I will start a voting site to get Jonathan Bernier in. Now that would be a blast

Sure it's a joke and sure it's relatively meaningless - but it makes the NHL look like a joke and a mickey mouse sport. Just like when Ovechkin was named as a First Team All-Star and a Second Team All-Star a couple years ago - it does nothing but make the NHL look like a minor league program when compared to the other sports leagues.

Does this make the NHL & its van voting look stupid? Absolutely.

Is there a person in the NHL that is a bigger goofball and complete jokester than John Scott? Nope.

Will he play at an all star level? Umm no.

Will it be entertaining all weekend? You bet it will be. The guy is a prankster and at least will give the fans some laughs.

Please be advised that I do not condone John Scott in the All-Star game, but I do 100% support Jonathan Bernier. Now that would mean some seriously big numbers in the goal department. LOL

I'm not too picky about this situation to be honest. If the all-star game held any true meaning than maybe there's something here. But it sadly does not. So, hey, good for John Scott. If he gets to go to the All-Star Game, then good for him. It's not like he controls who votes for him, and I bet he and his family will have a blast. I bet he'll appreciate it, that's for sure. Other than the shoe-ins that may or may not appreciate an All-Star invitation that John Scott would.

If the NHL doesn't want this, then get rid of the All-Star voting and spend that time trying to figure out how to make the NHL All-Star game meaningful and fun.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm in the minority like usual - I love this. They allow the fans to vote, it's supposed to be about the fans, so if a bunch of people decided to pull this stunt, so what. How many times have the "super stars" said no thanks and ditched the all star game? Scott wasn't out there begging for votes, he was actually telling people not to. But, the fans voted him in and I agree with what was said previously, he will show up with a smile and he will play hard and probably pull some pranks. As long as they allow it to happen, good for him, hope he and his family enjoy it. The game is meaningless anyways so I don't know why people are up in arms, to each their own I guess, someone like Crosby would have a hang nail anyways and skip it if he was voted in.

And let's be honest, this isn't any worse than the Rory Fitzpatrick or Rob Scuderi situations.
