After just returning from my local CP office I'm still feeling raw.

$16 to ship one card in a padded envelope to B.C. from Ontario, and that's WITHOUT insurance just tracking? SEVEN day delivery?!?

$21 for tracking btw via Expresspost

What is a seller to do? Buyers SCREAM at fees like this!

It's cheaper to ship to the states with tracking and insurance, no joke!

That likely includes $100 insurance. But try making a claim if the item is damaged. That's a whole other experience.

If you're sending parcel, that's partly the issue. Send as oversized letter. Still no trackin', but only $1.80 - much easier.

LOL I sent a regular oversized padded letter at $1.80 and the identical envelope with a tracking number came to $16 and change. Was told specifically no insurance on it, then the expresspost upsell option was provided.

Gah.

If you needed tracking you won't find it much cheaper. You can sign up for a VentureOne account which will give you access to Expedited shipping which can be a little cheaper and a little faster.

I didn't think they had a tracking option without at least $100 as was stated above. Registered, Expedited (if you are a business) or Xpresspost all come with $100 as basic coverage.

What was the service you used?

Registered is the way to go. I was told its not as fast as Xpost but way safer as each time its handled it get signed for by that particular employee. Now, I dont think you are technically supposed to use it for anything but documents but I could be wrong. Its the only way I send high value cards now. Its around $11 Canadian.

If your post office will let you. I sent things Registered for years until my post office decided the sort of packages I send (cards/bubble mailers) had to be Xpresspost from then on.

You need to find another outlet. Bubble mailer with a single card or two classifies as an oversized envelope. It's $1.80 plus Registered fee ($9.00). Includes tracking and $60 insurance.

You were scammed. Im guessing you went to a postal outlet, in a Drug store or grocery store, as opposed to an actual Post Office?

Sounds like you were over charged.
It costs me 1.80 in Can and $5 to US to send in a bubble envelope.
I say that as I just dropped of 25 envelopes last week.

The only thing I can think of is you shipped the packet too thick, which bumped it up to parcel prices.

Canada Post insurance doesn't cover damage, only lost items.

$16 seems too high from Ontario to BC. I sent one the other day for $12. not much lower but still better than $16. Perhaps the clerk didn't know what they were doing.
Also, if it was a paypal transaction you are better off printing a label from paypal. If you send expeditied you get 20% off the regular canada post rates.
