My other question is in reference to the 2017 NHL draft.... are there any rumblings of who might be the top pick( in 2017) or is this too far in advance?......I only ask because the first round for Pittsburgh is pointless this year unless they make a trade for a first round draft pick

I believe Nolan Patrick is currently slated to go #1 in 2017, but I don't think it's definite and obviously things can change before then. 102 points in 72 games at 17 in the whl, pretty solid numbers. Some other solid prospects that could challenge him are Max Gildon and Kailer Yamamoto

I saw Nolan play this season against Portland. For a youngster, he showed a lot of poise and control. Many of Portland's best try to get him off his game, but he kept is calm. He is a big kid and will adapt well to the NHL game. Time will tell if he is a #1 pick, but definitely will be a top 5.

Holtby still has an outside shot at Marty's single-season wins record, so it will be interesting to see how the Caps handle him this weekend.

They have a back to back Saturday/Sunday, so my assumption is that the best he can do at this point is a tie (48).

Would be suprised if they play him back to back.

On another note..... I'm guessing chances of Pittsburgh getting the first overall pick in 2017 is Slim and none.... so I guess I should have asked what does the rest of the crop look like(sure it is possible that they will miss the playoffs but I highly doubt they will be bad enough to have a chance at the top pick

- Pittsburgh, cause I'm a Pens fan.
- Detroit, cause I don't want Boston to make the playoffs.
- Sabres, cause I'd like to see the Isles lose, as the Pens will probably play them in Round 1.
- Blues, as I'd rather see them win the Central than the Stars.
- Preds, same as above.

I would love a situation in which Detroit falls out of the playoff picture, but I'm pretty sure that means the Flyers beating the Penguins tomorrow. And we can't have that.

I bet there are a lot of penguins fans that are relieved today..... maybe no news on Matt Murray but the news about Marc-Andre Fleury is pretty good

True. But Tristan Jarry was called up. I don't think that's good news. Might not be bad news, as it's possible Fleury and/or Murray are just being given days off for precautionary measures at this point (some wishful thinking) and Jarry is needed for practice. However, I'm going to remain concerned until someone confirms Murray (well, hopefully Fleury) will start Game 1.

Time will tell...it might also show how much (or little)confidence they have in zatkoff

I won't be comfortable in the least if Zatkoff has to start, but based on how well he played yesterday, I won't be on the ledge.

I won't say that the Islanders will try to throw the game, they are better than that, but I would try every avenue to rest as many regulars as possible if I were them. Most would much rather go the Florida then Tampa/Detroit route than the Pittsburgh then Washington/Philly route.
