Tickets went on sale this morning for the first round of the draft in Buffalo and I was on right at 10 and couldn't get tickets. By 10:05 it said sold out!

So my question is... Is this possible? Or are they just holding back a ton of tickets for the families of the prospects and then will release more tickets once they know the numbers?

If anyone has any info (or tickets!) that would be great. Thanks!

Rob

I believe I read somewhere that they were only selling something like 1000 tickets. With the Leafs picking first no surprise they didn't last.

I read that 5000 tickets were available however 4000 were offered through a lottery to Sabres season ticket holders and only 1000 were available at 10 am today I was also unsuccessful in getting tickets however stub hub has some for a serious mark up

not a lot to do in Buffalo eh

Plenty to do in Buffalo.

You read correctly. That is what happened.

To answer the original post, this is certainly possible.

This place is hockey crazy, not surprised tickets sold out as quickly as they did. Toss in some Toronto fans and the demand becomes that much crazier. I was lucky enough to get tickets in the season ticket holder lottery

I would imagine that unless you have a family member being drafted, or a member of an NHL franchise, or a potential draftee, that attending a draft would be amongst the most boring things one could do with their time? Why would somebody do that? I am genuinely curious.

Honestly, unless you're trying to get autographs or have your kids with you who may want to meet some of these guys, I agree, I think it would be pretty boring.

That said, there are some pretty big hockey names at these things so it may be a rare opportunity for some to grab a photo, handshake, etc?

And Buffalo is a cool little town, some fun stuff to see and do.

The draft is one of my favorite things! I love watching the prospects and rankings and although I sure it would be slow I would love to go to one!!! Different strokes for different folks!!!

I couldn't imagine sitting through the entirety of Saturday, but Round one on the Friday night, and walking around and bumping into former NHL players who are now execs? I could go for that.

But between this and my attempt to get Hip tickets, I hate the ticket buying process...

My thought was it might be the only time I can go see the leafs draft the first overall pick and its with 45 minutes of my house. Would be neat to say I was there when they selected Auston Matthews

It looks like the Sabres could be holding a draft party/viewing event on Friday night right next door at Canalside, so if anyone can't get inside the actual arena for day 1 that should be a pretty cool event.

I love when visitors come to Buffalo, even Leafs fans ;)

When the draft was in Newark they went pretty quickly too. About 5k tickets sounds right. They had a lottery at a later time that I won but had to work so I gave them away. Definitely not an easy ticket to land, especially in NJ where it's illegal to resell tickets to free events

I always love watching the draft. I think it would be awesome to watch Toronto with the first pick, the dealings that happen on the floor (I think Edmonton and Detroit might trade their picks), all of the former NHL'ers that are now exec's or agents, and potentially getting a few autographs.
As well, my son goes to Western in London and has met and hung around with some of the Knights that are going to be drafted in the first round this year so he'd like to see them get drafted.

So if anyone has tickets that they're not using...
