This just proves that anyone not named Crosby, Ovechkin, Toews, and maybe Doughty and E. Karlsson can and will be traded in todays NHL.
Not shocked at all to see this deal. Edmonton got a legit defenseman they can continue to build the back end around, and the Devils got an absolute stud forward in return. You knew the Oilers had to do something, McDavid appears to be the key piece and most likely captain for many years, so people have to go. I don't think the Oilers are done, not sure if anyone will take Yak, but I expect any one or couple of Yak, Nuge, Eberle may also be traded if the Oilers can find a good return.
If I'm a player on the Oilers, I'd probably be thinking that I better pick it up and earn my keep because if they can trade Hall, they will have no problem trading me (unless I'm McDavid).
Hall is def the better player but you have to think that salary comes into the equasion. In addition to picking up a top 4 d-man the Oilers shave roughly 3.5 mil off the salary cap, which will of course be used to bring in either a different type of forward (Lucic) or another top-4 via free-agency. So, really, it's Larsson and the opportunity to sign another player for the Oilers. But I'm shocked to see this trade ... I definitely thought Taylor Hall was a keeper for the Oil.

On a side note, the Devils have made some very nice moves in the past couple of weeks.
