Taylor Hall Traded to the Devils for Larsson

I don't know who else is involved yet (who else may be going to EDM) but if I'm taking that trade any day of week if I'm the Devils.

EDIT: TSN is now reporting it's a 1 for 1 deal.

lol...I type too slow. Got bumped.

Hall was known as a party boy. I'm thinking it's more of a locker room issue. Too many entitled players. RNH is next because of the depth at C.

This just proves that anyone not named Crosby, Ovechkin, Toews, and maybe Doughty and E. Karlsson can and will be traded in todays NHL.

Not shocked at all to see this deal. Edmonton got a legit defenseman they can continue to build the back end around, and the Devils got an absolute stud forward in return. You knew the Oilers had to do something, McDavid appears to be the key piece and most likely captain for many years, so people have to go. I don't think the Oilers are done, not sure if anyone will take Yak, but I expect any one or couple of Yak, Nuge, Eberle may also be traded if the Oilers can find a good return.

If I'm a player on the Oilers, I'd probably be thinking that I better pick it up and earn my keep because if they can trade Hall, they will have no problem trading me (unless I'm McDavid).

"Who is Adam Larsson" will be trending on Google Analytics just like "What is the EU?" was trending after the Brexit vote!

Wow!! :whatthehell:

All my Oiler fan friends are NOT happy about this deal. I wouldn't be either. Have to think that the Lucic signing is all but done.

Art is a prophet! :whatthehell:

I'm shocked, thought Taylor Hall was definitely one of the Oilers keepers! Big trade! I think Devils made out better, not sure if Larsson is worth it unless they are banking on huge upside.

I'd add Kopitar, Kane and Tavares to that list, maybe Benn if he gets a long term deal.

Hall is the best LW in the game who's name isn't Ovechkin. Edmonton could have at least gotten a pick or two on top of Larsson. I know Edmonton has a glut of forwards but damn, you don't just give one of the best ones away.

Talk about maxing out the return for Larsson.

No wonder Boston got rid of Chiarelli.

I bet his phone is ringing off the hook now with trade offers for Ebs and Nuge lol.

I've been a fan of the Oilers since their WHA days, through good times and bad, but this tears it! This team is officially done! If I'm McDavid, no way I'm signing an extension. They have absolutely no interest in winning, AT ALL! Arguably the 2nd best LW in the game for a defenceman who scored a whole 12 POINTS last year. Brutal. Ever wonder why the Canadian teams continue to struggle year after year? ELITE PLAYERS FOR MAGIC BEANS! I was planning to go to Rogers Place for the Open House in September, maybe even splurge for a ticket to the Home Opener in October, but after this, I'll never darken their doorstep again! F-ing Horrible!

Hall is def the better player but you have to think that salary factors into the equasion. In addition to picking up a top 4 d-man the Oilers shave roughly 3.5 mil off the salary cap, which will of course be used towards bringing in either a different type of forward (Lucic) or another top-4 via free-agency. So, really, it's Larsson and the opportunity to sign another player for the Oilers. But I'm shocked to see this trade ... I definitely thought Taylor Hall was a keeper for the Oil.

On a side note, the Devils have made some very nice moves in the past couple of weeks.

Exactly the reason they should have asked for picks. A first rounder might have been a stretch, but a second and maybe another later pick would not be unreasonable. Keep the cap space and get a few more trips to the podium on draft day.

Hall is a charter member of the Piece of C*** Club. You don't win with guys like that on your team; especially in a leadership role like he had in Edmonton.

Maybe the Oilers are just trying to reclaim the #1 overall draft pick.
