So we all know what happened after epack came out and just how many McDavid YG's started churning out.

Knowing that Mathews will have an epack YG about a month after the live copy release how do you see that affecting sales after the expo weekend?

You could also say, knowing that the market will be flooded, and that the market will bottom out, why would anybody buy a copy before e-pack?

I know I won't be adding one to my collection until after the epack release, what difference does it make if I buy it November 10th or March 10th when it will be going in my PC. The only difference is the money I will save, I looked today and you could get a McDavid for about 150 US on COMC so I figure Matthews half the price, with people talking 150-200 at expo I will wait and pay 75 (less than the cost of a box) to grab one when the price goes down.

All I have to say, is if you are planning to build the Series 1 YG set grab an ePack account and wait a month or so and you'll save a nice chunk of $$$

You can go onto COMC right now, and buy a complete set of Series 2 YGs.... and I suspect it wouldn't cost you much more than the cost of a box, probably a lot less.

Matthews, by virtue of playing for the Leafs, will be hot @ the Expo, and drop in price quickly afterwards. Some people have to get it right away. If you're of the belief that November 10th or March 10th are the same thing - there is no reason not to wait. This card isn't going to hard to find in a year.

I have been thinking about this since last year....I will wait for the Matthews also.

Why buy right away when it will be half when epack comes out?

McDavid I picked up from epack people for $110-$120 no problem.

Epack killed the Series 1 market for sure.

Exactly...killed the Series 1 and 2 market. I am passing on any S1 cases and I usually do 2-5 cases.

Flat out, the smart collectors will stay FAR away from buying Matthews' YG any time during the next 6 weeks. The ones that just HAVE to have it will fork over $300 for a copy and then complain about the market being flooded when the gates open.

I'm curious about how the dealers will adjust during the weekend. I'm expecting something like $300 on Friday, $250 Saturday and $200 or less on Sunday.

I have developed trust issues with the hobby because of ePack.

I plan on ripping a case and flipping the American Mat-Jesus it as soon as possible during the weekend.

Additionally I will sell off the remainder of my case by Sunday at EXPO. I am not touching it after the expo with a 100 foot pole due to ePack.

I am making it a rule to avoid any releases that have ePack deliveries. I don't want to be stuck holding the bag this year. I had no idea that an ePack existed last year and was stuck with a lot of content that I still have to this day.

Its funny...everyone posting here knows the golden rule - if you want the hot young gun for your pc...WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!! but no one ever seems to wait. In the case of McD, TONS of his yg sold for $275-300 at the start, and even when epack came out, tons sold at $150-225! It isn't just epack...it is just the natural slide that YG take after they get released, as new products come out, interest shifts. Why doesn't everyone just chill...not buy a single second market YG for the first 2 months??? Let the price normalize nice and quickly.

You can see the trickle down effect that it is having on the hobby. It is going to kill the hobby shops because they will not get the case/box sales they normally would because those people who rip and flip will no longer. Even those who just open a box in hopes of landing a big card will not because why not wait to buy that big card for half the price of a box.

Great for the people just looking to buy singles, horrible for the people trying to sell the product so those singles are available.

Can you imagine if everyone smartened up, and realized there will literally be 10,000 of these available and just all decided to sit and wait until prices came down to $100-$125. No offense to you Expo guys, I hope you get your $300, but dang people, wait just 2 weeks, 14 days, and save yourself $200+ bucks!

This coming from the guy who overpaid for way too many Eichels this past year. *sigh* :)

I hope UD seriously reduces the print run this year. If the big Matthews YG isn't generating a high enough to sale price, you many not see as many rip and flippers at the expo thus less Matthew's young guns on the market.

I wonder how many of the crazy ePack guys are still willing to crack product by the caseload after the fiasco last year that drove S1 single prices way down?

I can guarantee you that UD1 production will be WAY down compared to last season (even with e-packs)

This Leafs fan sure as hell won't be paying $300 for a Matthews YG. I might bust a couple of blasters and maybe a box and hope for the best. Worked for my McDavid YG last year :)

I will wait until his opc rookie comes out just like I did for McDavid. Smart people will wait and flip it if they pull it. You can always buy it in a few months at half the price.
