e-pack pull of a lifetime

How the **** are you supposed to scratch a redemption on an eCard? What's the point of this? Get the card, scratch the redemption, and then redeem it online for the card you acquired *from them* online?

Even just having the card design present as a placeholder would have been better.

Bang, bang. I was at the LCS today talking about this and the guy there made the comment "if people find out about this, I won't be able to sell what I have left".

I learned from last year when people were searching for the HG McDavid only to have 5 (or more!) of them come out of ePack. I'm doing two boxes of UD1 at the Expo and leaving the rest of it for people buying ePacks.
 
I think what burns me is that the Shields are suppose to be inserted in PHYSICAL packs. Does this not mean ones you can PHYSICALLY hold???
 
Im really happy for the OP but this is honestly complete BS. This is the second biggest card in the whole product and in my opinion one of the biggest cards even after CUP comes out! How is a card like this on EPack?! Really disappointed in UD this year.....

For what it's worth, this card was listed among the "All Packs" so it wasn't a "Physical Packs Only" card:

2005-06 Ultimate Rookies - Spectrum Teal Auto Shield // 05-CM Connor McDavid Edmonton Oilers Rookie Auto Shield 1 Random Inserts in all Packs

One of 3 autographed shield cards McDavid has in the product...
 
The question now becomes will this help or hurt the ePacks as basically the most awesome ePack card available is out of circulation, but garnered attention...

Oh, and I didn't say it - but congrats! That is one hell of a nice pull!

Yep. High-end cards should be listed individually. Example, the McDavid High Gloss. On the checklist it should say: /10 (5 in physical packs, 5 in e-packs)

I Totally AGREE! You need to know what might or might not be in the product that you are buying.

I don't see the issue.

The card was available in a pack. The pack was purchased. The pack was opened. EVERYONE has access to these packs.

Everyone has access to it, but if it's known that the best hits are in epacks vs. the physical packs - what's the motivation for going to your LCS to buy them? And the LCS is left with inventory that they've paid for but will sit there...

I think the problem is that UD is the direct seller of these packs. So they have cut out their distributers and stores. They have teamed up with COMC on this venture so I am sure there are some costs there but not nearly what it would cost to physically pack the product ship etc.

That being said what would they prefer people to buy the packs from a B&M which cost them more money or ePack which they profit more from? Sure the end cost to the collector is similar(going to be some stores selling for less others for more).

Based on the method these are created for ePack they have to know what is in ePack and what is in physical packs. If they know what is in each release and they would prefer the collector to buy direct from them what are the odds they are not stacking the ePacks vs the physical.

I have no problem with there being ePacks so that everyone who does not have an LCS or OCS can get a pack of cards, I just think that all high end products and cards should have it listed what is in each release as they are separate releases and dates. So all of the people opening physical packs thinking they had even a shot at this card were mislead. They seem to have no problem listings the inserts for S1 that are in the various Hobby/Retail/Tin etc.

More transparency is the key here.
 
Congrats, that is one hell of a hit.

That being said, there is no way that UD will ever tell us exactly what has been held back for epacks or it will kill off all desire to rip packs/boxes/cases at B&M's.
