Firstly, not sure where this would go? Please move if it isn't in correct forum.

So I got another email from "PayPal" today. Saying that they detected fraud on my account.
I know this is fake even before opening the email.
But I thought I would show some people what it looks like, and what to look out for if you receive any emails about any account info across the web.

First image here shows the email. Looks semi legit. But I know its fake. The email subject doesn't fit with how PayPal sends emails. Plus it says "paypal logo" in the subject line, a stupid cut and paste mistake by this asshat I assume. But check out that michaels discount 55% off today, gonna go there after I finish this post.

Second image.
#1. Website address is not paypal. A quick look at it appears as though it is. Nice try Paysqual :duh:
Also in chrome is shows green text at the beginning before the address as well as a small locked lock, with Paypals name in the front. Also look for https in the address line. HTTPS is a protocol for secure communication. This one does have a green lock, but not paypals name (PayPal Inc. [US]) in green. Not sure what other browsers look like, as I only use chrome.
#2. Both these links end up at a 404 not found page. No surprise there.
#3. All these links share the same address, with a # and the end of it. This keeps the link active, but doesn't the page.

Also not highlighted, no matter what you put in the email and password, the login buttons click just submits the entered text to an email and refreshes the page. Have some fun with the email and passwords. I used lots of creative swearword combinations in both boxes

Also go to paypal OUTSIDE of an email. Manually type the address into your search bar, never click links in an email.

Be safe and on the look out. I'm off to Michaels :D

I would be cautious putting in any response to those emails even if it is a fake address, creative swear word combos or whatever. They may be able to track it back to you via IP address, decide to return the favor and cause you some real problems. Best to just ignore them and leave it alone.

I'm not to worried about that. They can contact my ISP and tell them I called them a bad name, or attack my IP (can be changed).
It was more a guide for people on stuff to watch out for. I see and hear about people getting scammed all the time across the web. A little learnin' never hurt no one.

I already contact the domain registrar and informed them about it, so hopefully not up much longer.

I don't even bother with THAT any more, Norm. It's a game of whack-a-mole for PayPal.

Remain skeptical of any such email.

Thanks for raising awareness on stuff like this. Never hurts.
