Seattle group formally files for NHL expansion franchise

Where does this leave Quebec?

I know Settle levels up the league and good for them getting their act together but does this mean the Nordiques are out once again?

In a fantasy world...like to see the Nordiques back and heck i'll even stretch it and say the Whalers.......pipe dreams

Well this is no big surprise. A better location for a hockey team than Vegas. I too hope that Quebec City gets a team again someday.

Precisely what I was thinking. I went to an Everett Silvertips game a few years ago when I was up there visiting a buddy and there was so much energy in that stadium. Plus Seattle is relatively close to Vancouver, so that help some.

I went to the home opener in Vegas, and seriously, it was awesome! It's great to go a game in summer clothes, and to enjoy the strip after :)

I hope things will happen fast in Seattle. The league would have 32 teams, 16 in each conference. Seattle pay the big price for a new franchise, and then Quebec gets a good deal on relocating a team losing money in the eastern conference.

Hate to see a team move but more likely than adding 2 additional teams. Not looking forward to Pens losing another player....though at least it might not be at goalie. And if they can keep their core they'll be fine.....

I am %100 percent for a team in Seattle!!! This would be an amazing add to the NHL!! I dont really feel that the Nordiques or Whalers or any other old team should have anything to say about it....you had a franchise, you allowed it to fold....too bad so sad, shoulda supported your teams a little more and they would not have moved in the first place. I loved the Nordiques/Habs rivalry and hopefully one day it can resume but in all honesty the NHL owes these teams nothing. Seattle lost the Sonics and are now begging to get that team back in kind of the same situation as the old NHL teams but I think an NHL team would thrive in Seattle especially with the close proximity to Vancouver...what a rivalry that would become!!

For the Nordiques, it wasn't a problem of fans support, it was more about the USD/CAD rate, and about the owner looking to make quick money.

And watch the NHL totally screw things up with the Vancouver-Seattle rivalry bu scheduling the games against each other for Tuesday or Wednesday nights.

The funny thing is is that they probably should have had a team a long time ago, considering some of the other markets that have gotten teams over the years.
