Guess I won't do this set, dang

Yup, also had my eye on it for my Joliat collection... On one hand I'm glad to see renewed interest for vintage memorabilia, but on the other the prices are getting insane!

Must of been a non pay, card is back up w/same seller. I knew that sale didn't look right. Still over priced though, I really wish the failed transaction would go away looks like a legit sale.

Winning and runner-up bidders had very high bid activity with that seller (24% and 60%).

The winner bids 24% of the time with the seller, and that's not high?

No, not if the seller is a favorite, or specializes in something that the buyer wants.

ITG and Leaf is a prime example of a niche market. Especially if only certain sellers are busting Leaf because of the reported shenanigans going on with shops and distributors from UD. As such, somebody who may be interested in purchasing certain vintage pieces may only have a small section of sellers to purchase from on the secondary market, especially if said seller busts in large volume.

The buyer profile shows that the buyer has bid on 92 different items with 132 total bids, and no bid retractions. That is not the sign of a shill bidder. That is the sign of somebody with deep pockets who is selective about what they purchase.

I am guessing that the person decided they wanted this card, but backed out after they were forced to pay near three times what the going rate would have been for the card, after being bid up by a low feedback bidder who had 60% bidding activity with the seller. The next highest bidder was $235. Chances are, they felt like they had been shilled.

If the number is that high with a high number of bid retractions, then the chances are excellent that the item was shilled. Both bidders have ZERO retractions. That means a less likely chance it was shilled, but doesn't rule it out completely.

I was the runner up, only transactions I've had with seller is loosing his auctions. Can't believe my bid was out snipped again it was nearly $100 over the 3rd high bid. Card went for over 3 times what I've paid for the other 3. Only trying 1 more time if another pops up which I doubt. Maybe I'll get lucky selling mine

Wow, $262 CAN for a Vezina, Morenz, Joliat triple memorabilia card. Seems fairly cheap to me, I've seen Vezina singles go for much much more.

I have been working on the 17-18 Leaf Ultimate Pioneers. Apparently there are several Cyclone Taylor collectors out there, so I may not be able to complete my set because of the Taylor card. There is one sitting at a little over $200 USD with roughly 36-hours left; and another sitting at $399 with a bid already! I don't want the set THAT bad.
