Do the Caps....??

I can not see Devante Smith-Pelly going. He's not been shy to share his views. And you know what? Good for him.

I can't imagine more than one or two will skip it. Hockey players (typically) won't get into politics like that.

If Ovechkin said no, along with (say) 6-8 other players - I'd imagine Trump would just announce that the team isn't invited.

I can't imagine OV saying 'no' though.

Everyone should go, but it makes no difference to me...because we still won the freaking Stanley Cup!!!!! I'm so excited and I just can't hide it.

I was wondering about this - as there's both Russian players and at least one player of color (apologies, I don't know the whole roster by skin). If the Russian players go, will the media have fun with it (I don't remember any last year)? We know where DSP is on this.

Regardless, I'm glad the players have a choice at this moment.

well, being the team is 98% white in color i'm guessing they will be welcomed with open arms and a parade by the Grand Supreme Exhalted Leader.one can only hope they decline though,i would.

Trump did congratulate them on (surprise surprise) Twitter. Whether he invites them or not is a different question. Whether anyone other than DSP declines going, is a separate question altogether.

It blows my mind why some wouldn’t go. It’s sad that just because you don’t agree with the President you can’t go be recognized as a team. If it continues there won’t be this kind of thing anymore!

After revoking the Eagles invite, the nature of the honor has changed. I don't fault anyone for going or not going. Not even Tim Thomas.
