Erik Karlsson Traded to the Sharks!

I’m actually a little conflicted about this. On the one hand, I am stoked beyond belief he joined the team I root for. At the same time, I’m liquidating much of my hockey and this (shark) tanks his RC value. Also I feel bad for Sens fans, they didn’t deserve this.

Thoughts on hobby value? Our team in particular really needed Tavares more than Karlsson, by this ain’t bad for a consolation. Thoughts on league impact? Thoughts on/from Sens fans? We may finally get a sober, objective debate about just how good Karlsson really is when compared to former greats. Nobody but nobody gives two craps about the Sharks in the greater NHL landscape.

The Sharks get the best D-Man in the world; huge win. Ottawa made out better than I thought they would; but the return still lacks the elite prospect that I'm sure the Sens were looking for.
 
Not sure about this, I don’t see much coming back. Maybe one of these prospects are better than I think but this seems horrible for the Sens. Maybe a Sharks fan can weigh in on the players the Sens got back.
 
Honestly... move the team. It's totally disheartening to have this idiot at the helm. PLEASE... sell the team and move it. Embarrass some other city. The only nights the arena should be more than 50% full will be Leafs/Habs games. Only way to get back at Melnyk is to not go, not spend a cent. 'Oh, the team will move then' people will say. Good, better than having this. Hockey fans in Ottawa are driving distance to other places to see NHL games. I grew up without NHL hockey in Ottawa... its better than having one run by a clown. Hey Eugene, do yourself a favor and STFU... your little media ops and mock interviews don't help you. You just keep driving both feet further and further down your throat.

I feel for poor Dorion... he's a unic. How can you look in the mirror and work for an owner like that. He is told what to do every move... he's not building a team. I would quit if I was him. Except if you are in over your head anyway and no one else would hire you.

Go Flames! I'll be able to see Karlsson play a couple times this season now in Calgary. Avatar and signature will be changing shortly... Eugene, you suck.

I guess this sums up how the Sens fans feel about it.
Definitely a bummer for them seeing their face of the franchise go. Great deal for the Sharks to add to their already good line up.
 
Watching the press conference now. Was never a fan of his necessarily but hated the job Matt Cooke did on him against us and was happy to see he recovered. Think he handled the press conference really well, seems like a class act.

Tierney(24 years old) is a 3rd line center and P.K., DeMelo(22) was the Sharks 6th defense man, the other players are prospects that I didn’t follow. Ottawa is loading up on picks and if Karlson signs they got a big haul, but prospects are what they are you never know if they will pan out. Wilson is going for it now.

I like this move, yes we could have used Tavares(12 million a year), but with Karlson this gives the coach (DeBoer) flexibility, he could move Burns around(back to forward on the P.K. Park his big body in front of the net). Now we will see if Karlson wants to sign here long term like Kane and Couture.

Norris was a 1st r pick in 2017 (#19). Dude was a beast at the NHL Combine, I think he was top in 5 categories. However he wasn't spectacular in the 1st season at U of Michigan. He was the 3rd in C scoring on the team. Quinn Hughes got more points as a dman than him.

I feel for Sens fans. It's been such a gong show for you guys. (Don't know why there are so many gong show owners/GM in Canadian teams).

If Sens fans are feeling rage and disappointment now, I certainly don't know you guys will feel if the deferred 1st round pick turns in to Jack Hughes, added to the possibility that Duchene AND Stone could be gone by the end of the season.

Bergevin can thank Dorion/Melnyk that the focus/heat/talk about destroying a team is shifted to Ottawa. Benning and Chiarelli have similar feelings.

Norris will likely be a middle six forward if he makes the show. An energy guy, relentless on the puck and more a playmaker. He’s had some good showings in international competition for team USA

Balcers is a boom or bust prospect with undeniable skill. Him making the show likely hinges on the work he puts in off the puck but the offense he can bring is there. Had a good AHL season as someone mentioned before.
 
For a player like AK you would expect a high skilled can’t miss prospect, a good young skilled player ready for for the lineup this year and a 1st round pick. This is such a bad deal for the Sens, it’s hard to believe that this is the best they could get. I watch most every Sens game as TSN considers them my region. It sucks that guys like EK and Ohaneuf have went west wehere I won’t get to see them play. I seriously think the Habs got more for Pax.

Pretty much sums up how I feel except I completely disagree on Dorion. He's just as guilty as Melnyk on this. He was given a 3 year extension in the spring after a gong show of a season. Why? Because he agreed to do all this. He knew damn well this would cripple this franchise but he chose the money over his own integrity. Screw both of them. I hope Melnyk is forced to sell soon because this sh*t show can't continue.
