When Game-Used isn't Game-Used

Hey All

Just a heads up for those that may not have known already, the Gretzky jersey used in 2018 SPx Double XL Patches is NOT game worn. I purchased a beauty copy off eBay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/18-19-SPX-...uknis4Ay4k%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc) and couldn't wait to add it to my collection. Opened it up last night and flipped it over to read the back and much to my surprise it states the jersey was only practice worn. I don't think I would have bid it up so high knowing this. Figured I'd warn others just so they are aware and don't make the same mistake I did.

That being said, don't take this as a negative for the seller. Was an excellent transaction, and they provided a clear photo of the back of the card, even threw in a bunch of extra cards for free. I just assumed it was game worn, my bad. :duh:

At this point they must be getting rather limited with their Gretzky jerseys. You'd think they'd be drying up a bit. So practice jersey, or equipment bag like what's been used recently, is still cool in my opinion.

I still love the card and it will hold a good place in my PC (the guy Wayne is pictured with isn't too bad either I hear). Just found it surprising when I discovered it was practice used and wanted the community to be aware if they were contemplating a similar purchase. I should check my Gretzky patches from SPx last year to see if the same jersey was used...

Event worn and practice used cards are a serious problem. Try explaining this stuff to someone who doesn't collect and watch the look on their face.

Yea it is, especially the event worn. There isn't a whole lot of practice jerseys put out so I think they're kinda cool. The event worn stuff is complete crap.
