Summer NHL Trades/Transactions

Lets not forget the Flyers picking up Tyler Pitlick for Ryan Hartman! If Pitlick can stay healthy, I kind of like the trade. He slots in well on a 4th line with 3rd line potential if needed. Can score, but more importantly for Philly, is he can play on the PK. Unless Chuck Fletcher finds some more cap room after all of the RFAs are signed, I see an open wing slot on the 3rd line and an great opportunity for Morgan Frost to make the team.

Bobby Lou retires, and the Nucks are on the hook for 3 mil per season in recapture penalties. https://www.tsn.ca/luongo-retires-hitting-canucks-with-3m-cap-recapture-penalty-1.1328964

I was thinking that Lu would eventually go on long-term IR instead of straight up retiring so the Canucks could avoid these cap penalties, but that's what you get when you sign a massive contract like the Canucks did.

And in other goalie news, the Flyers resigned Brian Elliot to a 1-year deal today.

Golden Knights trade Haula to Hurricanes for Nicolas Roy

The Vegas Golden Knights have dealt forward Erik Haula to the Carolina Hurricanes for prospect Nicolas Roy, a source told The Athletic's Jesse Granger on Wednesday.

Haula missed the final 67 regular-season games and all seven of the Golden Knights' playoff contests this spring due to a knee injury suffered in November.

Roy, a 22-year-old center, spent most of the 2018-19 campaign with the Hurricanes' AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers. He tallied 17 goals and 36 regular-season points for the Checkers before adding 15 points in 19 postseason games as Charlotte captured the Calder Cup.

Why do the penguins do this move? It isn't about the future with them guentzel and Murray are not Crosby and malkin. Win now, right?

kessel wanted out ...penguins wanted him gone .....Arizona was the only team on Kessels list the penguins would willing deal him to ...others are rivals

Kessel gets to go play first line minutes with Rick Tocchet. Some sort of fallout happened that made it untenable for the upcoming season in Pittsburgh. Pens also are in salary cap trouble. Galchenyuk and his salary will most likely be gone after one year.

Pavelski & Perry to Dallas?
Duchene to Nashville?
Bobrovsky to Florida?
Panarin & Varlamov to Islanders?

Canucks expected to sign Myers to long-term deal worth $30M

The Vancouver Canucks are expected to sign free-agent defenseman Tyler Myers to a five-year contract Monday, according to multiple reports.

The two sides are "closing in" on a deal worth $30 million, according to TSN's Frank Seravalli.

The free-agent market opens Monday at noon ET and Myers is one of the top defenders available. The 29-year-old had nine goals and 31 points in 80 games with the Winnipeg Jets last season.

Myers was a first-round pick, 12th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in 2008. He has 74 goals and 265 points in 635 career games.

Rangers trade Vesey to Sabres for 3rd-round pick

The New York Rangers dealt forward Jimmy Vesey to the Buffalo Sabres for a third-round draft pick in 2021, the teams announced Monday.

Vesey, 26, has one year remaining on his current contract at a $2.275-million cap hit before he hits unrestricted free agency.

The Sabres acquired Vesey's rights in 2016 from the Nashville Predators, but he ultimately chose to sign with the Rangers after being heavily pursued following a Hobey Baker-winning season with Harvard.

Vesey registered 17 goals and 18 assists while averaging just over 16 minutes across 81 games in 2018-19.
