Just how bad is the mail right now?

I shipped a package to Washington from Alberta on December 8. Paid $58 for the 6-day delivery. Since the 11th it has said the item has been "processed" in Calgary. No other updates in 11 days, other than saying it is officially delayed.

Still waiting on items closing in on a month now:

Card shipped Nov 24th from Manitoba
Card shipped Nov 25th from Quebec
Card shipped Nov 29th from Alberta
Card shipped Dec 8th from Ontario
Cards shipped Dec 15th from BC

Waiting on a tracked item from the US that departed the US on Dec 12th and has not been logged into Canada Post site yet.

And waiting on a my last President's Choice purchase that has showed no update since the package was accepted at the post office on Dec 10th.

I'm pretty patient, but throw me a crumb on one of these things.

Definitely strange how it works. I got three I’m still waiting on since November.

1 from nov.18 from Quebec
1 from nov 27 from Ontario
1 from nov 27 from spruce grove (just outside Edmonton) This one I think I’ve been duped on. Giving the kid another week for it to show up though.

Yet I’ve got several from Quebec and Ontario that were shipped well after those dates. Like just got one from just outside Toronto in a week. Makes no sense to me. Seems like it’s the standard though. Give it a few more weeks for the Christmas craziness to end. Not to mention the COVID factor. Shouldn’t have bought so much the last month or so lol.

I've only bought a few things from the US this year but every time the package has stalled and been ''quarantined'' at the border for two weeks before it showed as being processed by customs. I think it's the policy under Covid. I've got one other thing coming across the border that was shipped on December 8th and hasn't even departed the US yet. By the time it does its little quarantine at the border I honestly don't expect to see it any time in January. I can be patient with that one though.

I'm less patient however for a big purchase that was mailed from Toronto on the 15th and, like your PC order, has been stuck on the post office acceptance phase ever since with no updates. Canada Post has an ''expected'' delivery date of tomorrow which is obviously a stretch at this point. It would have to scan through Halifax today to have any chance of that and if it doesn't come its pushing into this annoying window where my post office is only open for a few days in the next week or two because of the holidays.

Meanwhile, three outgoing Registered Mail packages I've sent out since my big purchase shipped - to Thunder Bay, Quebec, and NFLD - have all arrived at their destinations already. Mere days. Registered is the way to go. I wish the seller of my card had used RM too instead of basic tracking I'd probably have it already.

I've got one of my all time grails coming in and it hasn't updated in over a week.

The mail is as bad as it's ever been right now in the US imo.

As of 2 days ago, we had 102 trailers FULL in our yard at Canada Post. It's a slow burn right now.

The mail for me was still perfect (I ship anywhere from 100-150 envelopes a month on average) until the end of November, then the standards dropped to USSR levels of consistency. It is truly frustrating and customer service is flaming tires right now.

On Canada Post's end, items I had tracking on for delivery within my own province haven't moved from Edmonton in 4 weeks (yet other items I mail regular mail to the same city arrive in less than a week), items I am expecting from a next door province haven't arrived in 5 weeks, yet items from Europe got to me in a week. I'm putting out fires with angry buyers left and right who are accusing me of not mailing items because of these poor mail delivery times. It is frustrating when I do everything in my power to be a great business and then I look like a gonk because so few things are actually getting delivered this month. Customer service phone calls don't help because I get the standard "because of holidays and COVID" line and that they can't do anything. Nothing I am waiting on was purchased last minute (minimum 4-5 weeks), and nothing I am frustrated about sending (again, 4-5 weeks minimum) was last minute, everything just disappears into a vortex and I am the one getting the abuse from customers.

Then there is UPS that goes and drops my Christmas gifts to family off at other peoples' front doors and then say that I am at fault even though I was home by my front door during their "delivery time".

It is all very frustrating to say the least and I am sure in the New Year it will begin to normalize again, but this was a sad holiday season for delivery standards and that is my two cents.

So, I made a trade with a fellow in New Jersey. According to the tracking number, it was shipped on December 13. As of today, December 23, it hasn't made it the approximately 270 miles to my house yet. In 10 days.

Dec 10 purchase from BC (to Calgary) showed up in Calgary on Dec 12 and hasn't moved since. Not a single scan or movement in 11 days. It was sent 'regular parcel'.

Dec 11 purchase from the same seller in BC showed up in Calgary yesterday and is out for delivery today. It was sent 'registered lettermail'.

So random.

I also had a registered lettermail package go from Calgary on a Friday afternoon to Red Deer delivery Monday morning.... so, so random.

USPS makes no sense and they do not take any accountability for how slow they are. I have seen the same complaints all over the internet and all we can do is wait. My package is coming from NY since Dec 14th and so far in little over a week it has been to 5 different facilities? That makes no sense to me at all. Get it to the one place that will get it to the location the fastest! Seems like they just dump packages wherever and let someone else deal with the mail!

Not random at all if you ask me. My outgoing registered mail, three packages I sent out late last week and this past Monday, have all arrived at their destinations already. One to Thunder Bay, one to Quebec, and one to NFLD. Less than a week for all three. They've got to be pushing registered mail through ahead of everything else.

Meanwhile my big purchase that was sent over a week ago by regular tracked parcel hasn't moved from the originating post office according to the tracking. That's probably sitting in a trailer somewhere for who knows how much longer

My package from NY has been stuck there for 2 weeks. It is currently at the Jamaica sorting facility which I know is a hell hole.

I sent something from Canada to Washington State and it's taken a bit of a trip. It made it to Jamaica NY Int'l Distribution Centre but then instead of sending it to Washington they shipped it to Japan by accident according to tracking. Now I've no idea if it's going to be going to the destination or if it's being shipped back to me. Hoping to get some clarification in the coming weeks. First time this has happened to me and it is NOT fun haha

It's all over the place shipping to Canada and the US from Sweden. Anywhere from 2 weeks up to 8 weeks, but the usual is somewhere in the middle.

I sent a letter to Indonesia (You heard me) last month, took less than two weeks.
